Moon Rabbit is a highly-regarded Vietnamese restaurant situated in the heart of Washington D.C., drawing inspiration from the virtuous rabbit depicted in the Buddhist Jataka tale.     A fantastic experience from start to finish. We’ve been big fans of Kevin Tien since the Himitsu days and this was just as amazing as we remembered. Every dish, dessert and cocktail we tried was an explosion of flavors and textures. Standouts included the cocktail with shrimp salt, cumin lamb, crab gnocchi and tofu cheesecake. The space was beautiful and service was just right for our date night. Looking forward to returning!

    I already love Moon Rabbit and the whole team makes the experience so enjoyable. Being able to go in for lunch is a game changer, I now have a place close to go near work for an amazing meal before a shift.

    Everything about our experience - from the service, ambiance, cocktails to the incredible food was top notch at Moon Rabbit. Favorites included the pork belly large plate, crab ragoons and the leaf wrapped wagyu.

    Mediocre food --- some dishes were good, others less so (and one needed to be sent back). Service was also mixed. The runners who dropped off and cleared food were great, but our main server was MIA.

    I’m glad we experienced Moon Rabbit, and would be interested in going back to re-experience the outstanding dishes we enjoyed (half of those we ordered). Truly amazing! Another dish was very good and one was not so great. Descriptions of the dishes offered by the servers were perhaps a bit too detailed and almost overwhelming, but delivered with good will and energy.

    Moon Rabbit is a gem that offers a unique dining experience. The ambiance strikes the perfect balance between cozy and modern, with a clean and simple aesthetic that feels both inviting and sophisticated. The service was exceptional--our waitress was attentive, knowledgeable, and made excellent recommendations that enhanced our meal. While we thoroughly enjoyed the dishes, we were expecting flavors that leaned more heavily into Vietnamese tradition. Though there were clear nods to Vietnamese cooking techniques and flavors, the menu seemed to interpret these in a modern, creative way rather than offering traditional Vietnamese fare. Overall, it was a delightful experience, and while not what we expected in terms of authenticity, it's a great choice for those looking for innovative takes on classic inspirations in a stylish setting.
