Moon Rabbit is a highly-regarded Vietnamese restaurant situated in the heart of Washington D.C., drawing inspiration from the virtuous rabbit depicted in the Buddhist Jataka tale. Led by acclaimed Chef Kevin Tien, the restaurant embodies an innovative approach to Vietnamese cuisine, showcasing a menu that is both unique and complex. Chef Tien's main objective is to pay tribute to his heritage as a first-generation Asian American, using Moon Rabbit as a platform for expressing his love for Vietnamese culture and food.

    Get the tasting menu, it was sublime. The crab dish in the tasting menu was to die for. Cocktails were insane. 👍

    The food was so so so so outstanding and everyone explaining the food to us was so kind. I recommend the chef’s journey! Our server was the best in the world!! Thank you Monique! You made our experience so special. We will for sure be returning!

    The food was phenomenal. The service was exceptional. Visit and interact with all your servers. Personalities of gold and extremely knowledgeable. This was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had. We even went twice this week while in town for business. Would give six stars if I could.

    Overall, had a very good experience at moon Rabbit! The only small thing, I received a text 10 min before my reservation time saying my table was ready and asking if I was on my way. I replied immediately that I was on the way and arrived a couple minutes before my reservation time. When we arrived, we were told my table was not ready yet and it would be ready in 10 min. I understand things like this happen, so it didn’t make or break our experience, but something worth noting!

    I don’t often leave reviews but as this spot is a favorite among many close friends & has come highly recommended I was very excited to try for my husbands birthday + Valentines Day yet left…underwhelmed. I would say overall our experience was just ok - especially considering we traveled out of town to DC. The spot is gorgeous & love that the menu was inclusive of the 14th only with everything cooked perfectly. Service however was inconsistent - some of our servers were so thorough & friendly while others were just ok. I heard adjacent tables receiving enthusiastic recommendations, while ours felt like “what do you want - it’s been a long day” for lack of a better example. At one point I ordered an almost $30 cocktail & the highlight was to make sure I used the lid to sit the filter on so residual mess didn’t drip on the table. With the gratuity already included on the bill I would expect a higher, more consistent standard. We’ve also been to many places to treat ourselves each year during Valentine’s Day and it always feels very special & worthy of the premium pricing - extra treats, palette cleansers. complimentary bubbles etc. After watching social for LNY & the like, I was surprised to say the least that they stuck strictly to the menu except for (the surprise of a shared main course only) & a penny sized puff pastry with the bill. I would perhaps try again on a non-holiday if I were in the area already but wouldn’t recommend the special trip. There are far too many restaurants in DC at a similar price point with free parking & exceptional service!
