Originally opened as Lyons English Grille in 1945, in 2014 the building was purchased from David Lyons and after a complete renovation we re-opened in 2015 as Mr. Lyons, a homage to Mr. David Lyons.

Mr. Lyons features steakhouse classics with a modern edge. Be transported to a bygone era when jazz standards, martinis and steak ruled the day while enjoying modern luxury and innovation. A classic steakhouse with a menu that puts local small farms first, delivered with impeccable tableside service. Editors pick for best steakhouse “Palm Springs Life 2021 and 2022.” Mr. Lyons features five unique experiences/spaces: The Salon, The Lounge, The Conservatory and Terrace, The Private Dining Room, The Private Dining Patio and Seymour’s.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Palm Springs! This is an Old School Steakhouse and Speakeasy offering a dining experience that is both nostalgic and luxurious. Walking into the establishment feels like stepping back in time, with its vintage decor, dim lighting, and an atmosphere that exudes classic charm. The steaks here are the stars of the show, and rightfully so. I had the pleasure of trying the filet mignon, and it was nothing short of exceptional. Cooked to perfection, it was tender and bursting with flavor—a testament to the quality of the meat and the skill of the chefs. The accompanying sauces and sides complement the steaks beautifully, with the creamed spinach and garlic mashed potatoes being particular standouts. Service from everyone was exceptional, from hostess to each individual server. The decor and ambience is dim and elegant, fitting for the menu and caliber of service. We will definitely be back next time we visit Palm Springs.

Oy vey— We were seated in an indoor patio, with arctic breezes, despite our request to close the door. No luck with my first two entree requests— sold out. Then our salad was “forgotten”. The manager offered his apologies, but ultimately nothing was comp’ed. There are definitely bigger problems in the universe, but not my favorite dinner…. We will pick a different restaurant next time we’re in town.

Some dishes were great, some were awful. The corn soup…was like eating a bowl of firm cream. Bizarre. We didn’t eat more than 3 bites. French onion soup was not great. Steak sauces were not good at all. Watery and not flavorful. Steak was fine but nothing special. French fries were like eating a cube of warm potato. Not fried at all and barely warm. So strange. Not a lot of veggie sides. No spinach, broccoli, etc. Mizuna salad was incredible. Truly one of the highlights. Cocktails were extremely well done. Service was excellent.

I've wanted to go to this restaurant for years to try it. Underwhelming for the price. A twice-baked potato for $16? The food was mediocre and to add insult to injury they added a 2% additional charge for "kitchen appreciation"...what the heck is that? A way for you to make more money? How about the owner appreciates his employees and pay them more? How is this ridiculous added charge your customer's responsibility? Then the bill also only suggests 20,25, and 30% tips? Will never be back and with all the wonderful restaurants in the valley, this one is not worth it...at all.
