Mr. Tipple’s is a craft cocktail bar featuring live jazz.

There is a $20/guest min for table service
Mr. Tipple’s heralds back to a 1950s NYC basement. Cozy. Dark. Boozy. The intimate setting features local jazz artists up close and personal. It’s a joint where you come as you are, hear great music, tap your toes, and sip a properly chilled cocktail.

My name is Mr. Tipple. Just a simple and laughable bloke hailing from London. I run a recording studio. My friends joke that you’ll oft find me spinning cocktails, not reeling tape. After a few too many, I usually just sit back and enjoy the music, having forgotten to hit record. Regardless, the band is always jiving, the whiskey is always cold, and we’re having a smashing good time.

Please be respectful of the music and keep voices to a hush. This is a ticket for live music & not a pre-paid-dining credit.  A $20/guest food & beverage min spend is also expected. Last call food is 10.15pm Cancelations forfeit ticket value. Ticket sales are final. No refunds will be issued. With prior notice, you can reschedule for a future date wherein available.

Absolutely an amazing place to hear music and so glad this venue is in San Francisco. Very easy to get to by public transportation. Tickets to the shows are separate from beverages and food. This ensures that the musicians get paid (yeh!!) Excellent service, good drinks, food is uneven - duck is the BEST thing on the menu. For our party of 5, a 21% gratuity was included in the bill. I don't know if this applies across the board.

Showed up for the 9:00 session of Joe Warren Quintet. Excellent, pleasant accessible jazz. Nice minimally intrusive service. Good (while limited) menu. Very pleasant staff.

What a fantastic spot! We chose Mr. Tipple’s mostly for its proximity to the Bill Graham Auditorium, but almost immediately upon entering wondered “how did we not know about this place?” The space is very intimate and inviting, and from the front desk to everyone who served us, the staff was friendly and efficient. The dim sum format was perfect for the venue and delicious. Oh right… and wow: the quartet playing that evening was five star.

Excellent as always - top jazz by the Aaron Germaine Trio, great food and drink (xiao long bao, chicken bao, mochi pancake), Duke’s Manhattan and Overnight Celebrity cocktails. The Overnight Celebrity is a fantastic new recipe and presentation, and Enoch was very friendly and expert. Looking forward to my next visit.

I'm so happy to have discovered this unique, cozy, stylish venue! It is small, comfortable and affordable. The music (Stella Swings Ella" was terrific!

Wonderful experience at Mr Tipples - including terrific Dim Sum and wonderful music from the Emily Day Swingtet! Service was excellent and they accommodated early arrivals in the heavy rain.

Had a great night here. The band was good and the drinks were great. Everyone working there was very nice. I was shocked at how nice the hosts were. It’s difficult to get good service in the city so their hospitality really means a lot. Thanks for taking care of us.
