Our menu represents Chef Michael's Blackie’s best food memories, which span over his 35 plus international career Chef worked in Asia, Latin America and is an expat from the UK.
His food style can best be described as a balance between Canadian roots with a strong influence in both Asian, Latin and European cuisines.
We are currently open for Dinner weekly 7 days week from 5 to 9 pm. We are known for our blind tasting menu that features 8 dishes shared between minimum of 2 people. We are also open for Sunday Brunch from 10am to 1 pm and offer a sharing 5 course - 10 dish brunch tasting menu.
NeXT opened in 2009 and is consistently in the top drawer of established restaurants in the Ottawa / Gatineau region. NeXT has been awarded many accolades over these past 11 years.
Come and discover one of Ottawa's signature original stand-alone restaurants that represent the acumination of Chefs Blackie's global career.

Our NeXT experience was amazing. Having been recommended by a friend, we had confidence it would be good but Barbara and the rest of the staff exceeded expectations. The food was the highlight with delicious mixes of sweet and spicy along with perfect portion sizes. Having seen the constant stream of diners arriving, we knew it has to be a favorite for many Ottawa diners. It can boast us as repeat customers for sure. Sue and Scott, Nepean

Such a nice place to experience. The serving sizes are perfect and you won’t be disappointed. The freshness and quality of the food was great. They even took special care with food allergies. We will be back and recommend to Next to everyone.

We had not been in years and were very pleasantly surprised to be served by Michael Blackie himself. We asked for wine pairing and it of course matched the dishes wonderfully. We had the lamb keftedes to start. The flavors were amazing. The main courses were Blackies crispy chicken ( lots leftover for lunch today)and the “Schnitz” chicken schnitzel. Again fantastic mix of flavors. We even had room for dessert. Having Michael Blackie himself serve you dinner was a great touch. Obviously sharing his expertise explaining all the combinations of flavors we were to experience in each dish. He was very personable and exchanged friendly banter with each visit to our table. Looking forward to my leftover crispy chicken today for lunch. We will definitely be back again.
