With our intimate front room, spacious garden room and hidden garden that basks in the York Minsters shade and overlooks the city walls it is the perfect place to come and savour all York has to offer. Food was quite good. Ambience was relaxed and the service was very good. The risotto starter was excellent with a lovely mixture of herbs.

Good food and service let down by the ambiance. When we arrived we found the area a little off-putting. Once inside we didn't feel comfortable - the floor didn't seem really clean, there were crumbs on the floor and on the bench where I was sitting. Some maintenance was obviously needed with the flooring inside the front door. Before we left we saw there was a back room and a garden and our experience might possibly have been different had we been seated here. As it was, we didn't feel the ambiance was right for the long, leisurely dinner that we usually enjoy. Having said that, the hake dish was very good. It would not take much to improve the front area - new flooring, light blinds on the windows and possibly some form of soft lighting or lamps.

Great location, great food and excellent service. Relaxed atmosphere and can chat without intrusive background noise. Can people watch - passing by on pavement - or eat looking over tranquil well kept garden at the back.

Excellent lunch, no loud music and a relaxed atmosphere. The food and service was commendable. A first visit but not the last.

A nice, and unusual little restaurant, with good service. The food was good but not great. Considering the OK level of the food, and the décor (basic café with nothing extra spent to make it a restaurant), the meal was very expensive and a bit of a disappointment.

What a lovely surprise! This is a tiny cosy place just few steps outside York wall, with comfort food menu - they have their standard menu + few special meals that vary from day to day. Cuisine stays more on traditional kitchen side, but everything was really fresh and tasty. For choise of starter+main meal+drinks (water, wine, coffee) paid approx 70 pounds and could barely move for the amount of food we've been served. Great job guys, keep it up!

The food was excellent the staff were exceptional. The atmosphere was fantastic. All in all a great experience. Would go back in a heartbeat if we were ever in york again.
