The service and staff were excellent. The tequila opener was one of the finest tequila drinks in Nola ($14 each). There was only one option for hot sake, and the 6 oz was $25 and 12 oz was $48. We ordered both dinner specials. One was $125 for 6 small spoons of tuna with roe and lots of sauce on them. The sushi was fresh, presented in a manner with many of layers of textures and flavors … but we ended up tasting more sweets and fruits in the special than the fish. We ordered the second special as well for $45 and the presentation, portion size (2 pieces of 3 separate fish species) and flavors were good. The fish was complimented, but not overpowered by the accompanying sauces. We ordered miso soup and it came in a small bowl and the flavor was above average but not really memorable. This was their only soup option. We ordered individual pieces of sushi ($10-$12 each) and found the fish to be fresh, but the portion sizes were below average and the fish was a bit dryer than we were accustomed to. We ordered fresh wasabi x2 and the portions were very small (this is why we had to order 2), and the flavor and texture wasn’t like freshly ground tablesside wasabi we’ve had at other restaurants. With a 20% tip we paid $520 for 2 people. Our bellies were full. We’ve been to other Nobu restaurants (Cape town and Las Vegas) and we believe that the product and value were better at the other restaurants. We won’t return to Nobu NOLA for the sushi, but we may sit at the bar and have a hot tea because that was the only item on the menu that exceeded our expectations.
