I made this reservation for 2/14 on 1/17, knowing it's a busy night for many restaurants. We booked a high top and noted it was for a birthday. We arrived and were seated at a low table. Not what we asked for, but not a deal breaker. We then look at the menu amd discover they don't have their regular menu - this is a fixed course meal.
Keep in mind I made this reservation for 4 to celebrate my daughter's 13th birthday. She specifically requested we go there for the mac. When I realized what was happening I asked the hostess who was passing by if that was our only option. She snipped yes, and that I should have seen it when I made the reservation. Well, I didn't see it, and no one at North Fork thought to notify people who had made reservations that this would be the case.
Our served then showed up (finally) and I let her know we wouldn't be staying because this isn't what we expected. She told us, "good luck finding a place that isn't slammed tonight."
The table mixup I can forgive. The menu miscommunication I could forgive. But the staff acting like it was my fault did not sit well with me.
We sat there for maybe 2 minutes trying to gather our thoughts on what to do next when the hostesses came back to tell me they needed our table and thatvwe needed to leave. They wanted to shoo me, my daughter, and my elderly parents out of there as fast as they could. We waited longer for our server to come to the table than it took for us to deliberate on our next move.
I always thought NF was kinda pretentious, and the food was overrated amd overpriced for what it is, but I was willing to overlook that to celebrate my daughter's birthday. Bougie as the kids say.
North Fork made it easy for me to say never again. There are way better places in Eugene. We found one and had a nice evening elsewhere.
