I made a reservation on OpenTable 2 weeks in advance for a party of 15 people, ignoring Google reviews saying that the staff are rude. I rang up on the day to confirm I was on my way, and was shocked that the manager spoke to me so angrily and dismissively. He sharply spouted, "When?" and "How many?" down the phone, and he hung up without even asking for my name. This put me in the worst mood when I was supposed to be having a casual, low-key brunch with my friends for my birthday. On arrival I went to speak to him and showed him my email confirmation. He responded by saying that this branch of Notes no longer use OpenTable, and that it's a problem they are sorting between him and HR managers. He was not remotely apologetic for the mishap, and expressed this problem to me as if it was MY fault. I said that he should to get that looked into immediately, given I made the booking so far in advance and it could be a problem for many others in the future. He acknowledged this begrudgingly but remained defensive and attacking despite it not being my fault. In the end, I had a table of 8 put aside and we had to make do. The food was fine, not a cooked brunch, more just quick pastries and sandwiches. Waiters and waitresses need to be more warm and welcoming. It's otherwise a nice place, but the staff ruin the atmosphere. I will not be making a return.
