Nunzis never disappoints.
We went there for restaurant week on a busy Saturday night. (With a reservation of course) as usual the place was crowded but we weren't made to wait for our table. We started with a Mezacalita, Nunzis version of a spicy pineapple mezcal margarita which perfect.
The Prix Fixe menu for restaurant week had plenty of options for all. We started with the Mussels in white wine sauce. You can choose red also if you prefer. Somehow Nunzis always has plump fresh Mussels and the sauce was just right. We usually try and avoid eating too much bread but we couldn't pass up sopping up some of the white wine sauce with it. So good.
We also got the fried zucchini. It was shaved into potato chip style pieces and delicately fried with just the right amount of salt on top. It came with a dipping sauce but it didn't need it.
For dinner we shared the Spicy rigatoni and the eggplant parm. I've had the spicy rigatoni before andni usual add meatballs to it but that wasn't an option for the Prix Fixe. Doesn't matter though, it still is an excellent dish. The eggplant parm was lightly fried and had enough sauce to balance flavor without being too much to make the eggplant soggy. It was topped with mozzarella cheese of course and again, it was just the right amount.
Lastly the menu included dessert. We got the Affogato which was served in two parts with the espresso in a small pouring cup and the ice cream on the side. It was elegant and it made sure that It was fresh as you ate it. The other dessert was the biscotti and cannoli cream with a raspberry drizzle. Decadent and good!
The thing that was extremely surprising was the portion size. When getting Prix Fixe meals I'm usually served smaller portion sizes. Not at Nunzis. Everything was the same as if you ordered Ala carte. We had plenty of leftovers to take home.
I definitely recommend Nunzis for a good southern Italian meal.
