Original Joe’s is the quintessential, classic San Francisco dining experience. A fabric of the City for over 80 years, it is located in the heart of the historic and majestic North Beach, a mecca for natives, tourists, and culinary aficionados alike.

Original Joe’s is the oldest of all existing Joe’s restaurants in the country and is the innovator of what is now nationally known as the “Joe’s Concept”. With its signature red leather booths, legendary smooth cocktails, and renowned Italian American menu, Joe’s has come to signify its own Northern Californian category of food and symbolizes classic Italian American comfort food at its finest.

One of our very favorites. OJ's has everything down to all details, food, service and atmosphere...Some food choices, as with any other restaurant, fall short, not for lack of quality, just that once you have a favorite, and try something different, it sometimes falls short of expectations.

It was so loud in there, we could barely hear each other. The waiter brought drinks, took our orders for dinner, the served dinner to two couples who came 20 minutes after us. We had to flag another waiter down and have someone cook our food! Then, when my husband’s hamburger came it was well-done when he asked for medium rare. They did take something off the bill, but we won’t be going back .

It’s better to live rich than to die rich! I love that saying they have above the kitchen. It’s always say they have the best filet in town! Then raviolis are great as the pour of the drinks!!

We love Oroginal Joe’s for martinis and the best Italian American comfort food. The host station is always friendly and accommodating. Save room for the big desserts!

The food and atmosphere was fantastic. Our server was likely too overwhelmed because we had a few issues with ordering and then our check was incorrect when given to us. Our server was great and personable so I don’t think it to be her fault but please make sure you have enough staff to ensure they are not overwhelmed.
