Ospi is the sophomore restaurant of Jackson & Melissa Kalb, focused on Southern Italian cooking and way of life. The name derives from ospitante (“host” in Italian), with the expectation that guests will feel as comfortable at Ospi as they would at a friend’s dinner party. There will be plenty of house-made pastas as well as an expanded offering of pizzas. The beverage program crafted by Kalb features mostly Californian and Southern Italian wines and a full bar with a special negroni section. At Ospi, the pizza is inspired by the techniques of Antico Forno Roscioli which Jackson and Melissa frequented while visiting Rome. Focusing on Romana Tonda-style crusts that are cracker-thin, he is adapting a recipe that he feels will resonate with the LA diner. Jackson feels it extremely important to not take food too seriously. Take a trip to Southern Italy and be a guest in our home.

The kale salad and Japanese eggplant are a must. Can’t go wrong with any pasta! Cannolis are light and the budinos are delicious. Overall, just a great experience. Wait staff was patient and knowledgeable and best of all the heated patio was welcoming to our 2 dogs.

We arrived 10 mins late to a 9:30pm reservation yet were told by the hostess that we didn’t have a reservation. After showing confirmation on OpenTable, the hostess went to the back to check with the kitchen if they could still serve us. She came back saying that the kitchen closed and she would not be able to seat us or allow us to order anything because they only give a 10 min grace period (meanwhile most places give 15 minutes) but regardless you’re telling me that if we sat at 9:30pm exactly we would’ve had approximately 8ish minutes to order all our drinks and food for the night. If this is the case, do not allow reservations for 9:30pm to be made and instead cut them off at 9pm. We drove all the way there on a Sunday night and were turned away with a bare bones apology. I was excited to take my friend to Ospi for the first time because I enjoy the food, but that service is unacceptable. Nothing was offered to make up for the inconvenience or lack of planning on the hostesses’ part. If you have a reservation coming in wait 10 minutes before having the kitchen close.

We had a fantastic time! Andrew was very helpful with our last-minute reservation update. Our waiter was also kind and attentive to all our needs. The food was great, and the quantity they served was perfect.

Made a reservation for indoors and was put outside. Had to ask several times for water and for the heater to be turned on.

Food was excellent. We are what was delivered which did not match what we ordered. Tables on street patio are wobbly which resulted in the server dropping our leftover container on the sidewalk. Parking across the street convenient and only $15
