Oumi Genji in Tokyo specializes in meat served kansai style such as sukiyaki, shabu-shabu and teppanyaki in a quiet and hidden-away spot. It offers prized Oumi beef in a tatami room. Choose from different set menus at Oumi Genji, such as the sukiyaki selection, or get an appetizer, an aperitif, sashimi, pickles, udon or rice and a dessert. Diners can also accompany the meal with an all-you-can-drink choice that includes beer, wine, whiskey and sake. Oumi Genji offers a private room for gatherings, and the servers wear kimonos.

    An absolute gem of a small family owned restaurant. Excellent food. Accommodating, personable staff. The Chef/Owner provided personal service. The quality of the food is superb. Private dining rooms in great condition for a restaurant that has been in operation for decades. A truly joyful experience.

    Hidden gem! Oumibeef shabu shabu experience with melt in your mouth beef. So many courses to complement the main dish. Ponzu sauce with delicate citrus hint handed down in a secret family recipe. Delicious food made even more authentic with personal touch by the owner, Masato, who explained oumi and why it’s the best beef. He also reached out personally beforehand as I had noted our son has a nut allergy, and he had the chef whip up a special dessert for my husband’s birthday. What an enjoyable and memorable evening!

    ふわふわの牛しゃぶは近江源氏ならではと思います。いいお肉はやはり美味しい。〆のおうどんも好きです。 大人向けなお店ですが、子ども用スリッパがあり、嬉しかったです。 細々とお気遣いくださり、ありがとうございました。

    久々に利用しました。 今回はコースを注文しました。 とても美味しかったです。 お肉の量が少し少なかったかな…で、追加しましたが、そうすると少し多かったかな。 メニューに肉の量(グラム)を表記すると、より良いかと思いました。

    Our last night in Tokyo was made even more special with our sukiyaki meal at Oumi genji !!! The owner could not have been nicer in welcomes and explaining in detail the entire menu. The food is fabulous and service even better. Highly recommend this restaurant if ever in Tokyo. Best sukiyaki in my entire life !!! Arigato gozaimasu !!!
