We returned to The Outpost after a wonderful experience with our waiter, Julio, at the end of January 2025, looking forward to sharing a meal with visiting family.
Unfortunately, upon arrival, there was a mix-up with our reservation, which had been made weeks in advance. Despite requesting seating upstairs (where we had previously dined with Julio), we were seated downstairs by the entrance. After ordering wine and soft drinks for our children, the drinks took longer than expected to arrive and were brought out separately.
The service issues continued when our waiter struggled to hear our orders clearly. We ordered both starters and mains at the same time, but we asked for the starters to arrive first, as is standard. Unfortunately, our children's meals arrived alongside the starters, and one of the pasta dishes came with the sauce in a separate bowl, while the starters weren’t served correctly.
Several other aspects of the meal were incorrect or arrived at the wrong time. We made multiple requests to speak with a manager, but after a 20-minute wait, we still hadn't had the chance to address the issues. Thankfully, Julio stepped in, demonstrating incredible understanding and attentiveness, which allowed us to salvage the rest of our meal and enjoy the evening.
While the food was enjoyable for the most part, the service and overall experience fell short of expectations, especially considering the price. The staff at the front seemed indifferent to our needs and didn’t seem concerned when we requested managerial assistance.
Had it not been for Julio’s exceptional service, we likely would have left in frustration, as it seemed no one else noticed or cared that we were experiencing problems.
It’s a real shame because, with great food and excellent service from Julio, our evening could have been much better, especially with family visiting. Hopefully, this review can help the restaurant improve its service in the future.
