We are from LA and NYC and moved to Orlando a year ago. So our standard is set a little high when it comes to anything food related.
Yakitori was mid, 3/5. It was good but nothing great.
Sushi was good, 4/5. Yuzu hamachi was incredible but everything else felt like it was just fish put together - not thought out flavor wise.
Service was poor, 1/5. We arrived and put in our order fairly quickly. Within 5 mins everything yakitori related was coming out one after another. Within the first 10 minutes our 5 yakitori/kitchen dishes were out. Then suddenly our food came to an abrupt halt. We looked at the sushi bar and the chef was missing with fishes and knives still out. We kept glancing over and for 20 minutes nobody came to check on us, no sushi chef in sight, so I had to yell to get our waiters attention. Yelled because it’s a little loud and the waiters walk around without making any eye sight with you. Almost like they try not to make eye sight. When we asked our waiter he said they were short staffed that evening. Fine, but an update would’ve been nice.
After 30 mins the chef came back and we noticed our sushi was coming out of the kitchen now and not the sushi bar, we realized the kitchen probably started prepping the sushi orders since nobody around us had gotten any sushi dishes.
Then we were missing one sushi dish and had to bring it to our waiters attention after again, another 15 minutes. Once we told him our dish suddenly arrived and he said he told the chef to quickly prepare it. Sure.
Overall, we like the the yuzu hamachi and hamachi hero. Is it worth coming back, maybe if you don’t mind being ignored.
