Parsonage Grill is a Cotswold-esque bolthole located within the 5-star Old Parsonage Hotel in central Oxford on Banbury Road.

Famous for its intimate, bohemian, clubby atmosphere, and beautiful outdoor dining area, the Parsonage Grill displays an amazing collection of eclectic oil paintings; mainly portraits of well-known writers and artists.

    Roaring log fires, an eclectic collection of 20th-century portraits and a traditional yet glamorous setting for a stylish Christmas celebration. As always the Parsonage Grill is open throughout December and our Christmas Party Menu is available from 20th November to 24th December, and can only be booked in advance for parties of 5+ guests. Our Events team will be in contact to arrange a pre order.

    The chicken schnitzel, whilst tasty, is incredibly salty. The service was pretty slow, particularly initially when we were waiting to make our order, but the food can quickly. Besides that, everything else was excellent!

    I had a lovely quiet lunch on a busy pre-Christmas shopping day. The Parsonage Grill was a great quiet retreat from the bustle. The service was speedy and friendly, my risotto was exquisite, the homemade soup likewise. I visit Oxford only occasionally, but I think the food at the Parsonage (which was always good) has actually improved. Recommended!

    Great atmosphere for an anniversary date night. Delicious selection of hearty foods and generous portions. Very friendly staff. Would definitely return for another special occasion.

    Very courteous staff, and remarkably swift service. The food was generously portioned, perfectly cooked perhaps slightly run of the mill and faintly the style of a few decades past (which isn't necessarily a bad thing, I mean, fortunately nothing was novel or surprising) but that's being very critical. I particular liked the hang of the massed 19th and early 20th century painting in the dining room, which were well-chosen, interesting, originals, and well arranged. The space felt intimate and warm on a cold autumnal evening. It was also very atmospheric to leave with the sounds of the nearby church bells ringing with gusto.

    We got shown to our table and asked if we wanted water for the table, we requested sparkling and were then ignored for 20 minutes. Finally managed to get someone’s attention and the bottle of water was plonked on the table leaving us to pour it. No issues with that but for the calibre of establishment it felt disappointing and not the best start. The rest of the meal improved as did the service. I don’t think we will go back in a hurry.

    The Parsonage Grill was recommended by a friend and I booked it for a 60th birthday dinner celebration for my sister. There were 3 of us and we had a lovely evening. The food was fantastic, especially the smoked haddock chowder! The service was first class and a special thank you must go to Phoebe and Sandra for making it a special evening. The only thing that let it down was the sticky toffee pudding which was steamed and tasted very bland. We did feed that back to Phoebe and she said she would let the chef know. Otherwise, a great place, lovely decor and wonderful food and service!
