From July 1st, 1957, there had been two owners of Pates, Cloyde Pate followed by the Gardner family of Chatham. Mr. Pate opened the doors to what would soon become one of Cape Cod’s most beloved restaurants. Once a cozy hamburger and ice cream stand, Pates grew to be a place of celebration, camaraderie, and community. From the bonds staff made during countless summer seasons, to the engagements, anniversaries, birthdays, and family gatherings, Pates has been a backdrop for exceptional moments and people.

We are honored to steward the next chapter of the Pates journey. A renovated space to create new memories and friends, Pates is still that very special place. With careful consideration, we have redefined this Chatham classic and are serving up an experience rooted in the best things in life: great food, good people, and lifelong memories.

We go quite frequently, we were also there last weekend. This weekend we took my daughter and her fiancé, the food was good but the steak was a little tough. The drinks which was the Santa margarita pino didn’t taste well, the waitress assured us that it was freshly opened but it had a funny taste. She took it off our bill, my future son in law had an after dinner espresso martini and that did not taste well, he didn’t finish it . All and all the food was good, we enjoy coming here but this time it wasn’t up to par!

As always exceptional service from beginning to end. Joe seated us right away to a wonderful table by the fireplace. Dinner was delicious as were the cocktails! This is why we dine at Pates often.

Tough night for the wait staff as they were short-handed, but the two servers for the entire restaurant were cool and calm under pressure and the service never missed a beat. Great evening, great food, great atmosphere.

We were at Pates with family from out of town. Our server, Quinn was very attentive and knowledgeable about the wines we were interested in. The food was made to perfection! Everyone enjoyed the Tuna cones.
