The server tried to come back from this with free dessert but it was too late. He forgot to order our apps, which never came and failed to check on us. Finally flagged him down and he ordered them and our entrees came before the apps, which we then canceled. Our steaks were not done right and the sides were cold. Honestly, the restaurant looked haggard and so did the staff. Unfortunate, because we do enjoy this place.

OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE My husband and I are visiting family members in San Mateo. We at her from Southern CA. My husband and I stumbled across the Hillsdale mall. We shopped, and ate at Paul Martin's afterward. Quick seating. I ordered my dish, then changed my mind about ordering and shared with my husband. Our waiter was calm and okay with the change. Just good customer service, very polite.

Service was helpful and lovely and the staff was eager to accommodate our timing and any other requests. We were a party of 7 - two guests had chicken parmesan and both agreed it was not good - overcooked and not well put together as a dish. For a simple dish, that is disappointing. Other dishes were fine, not great. The fish tacos were tasty. We came to the conclusion that perhaps this restaurant is better for sandwiches, burgers and tacos vs higher end dining. Too bad as the location and ambiance are very nice and we could use some good quality dining options in the area.

Just my wife and I enjoying Christmas Eve dinner before leaving town for the holidays. Seated immediately, our server was with us within a few minutes. The pacing of the food was excellent. Never felt rushed. We hadn't been to the restaurant in a couple of years and the prices had gone up exponentially, but I guess that's par for the course. One appetizer, a salad, two entrees, a desert to share, and four alcoholic beverages came out to $224.We enjoyed our night; the food was delicious and were out the door in 90 minutes. As an added bonus, we left satisfied but not stuffed.
