Manchester’s stunning Piccolino Caffe Grande sits on Clarence Street, just off Albert Square and overlooking Manchester’s iconic Town Hall.     Starter lovely ( Calamari) Main course (calves liver) luke warm to cool. Waiter did not come by. When senior person came to clear plates we complained. He offered two free desserts - thanks but we did not want them so offered 30% off. Unfortunately ruined my wifes 65th birthday dinner. Do not think i will ever go to a Piccolino again. Virginia Water served me a freezing cold Lasagne last time. Seems to be an repeating issue. Shame as the venues themselves are fantastic.

    The food here was exceptional and the service was excellent, I went for lunch and it was busy and I can understand why!

    Lovely restaurant when on form! The food was tasty and hot. Although 5 mains were sold out! Unsure why this would happen, especially for a Saturday evening. I was disappointed as looking forward to the gnocchi. Service was alot slower than usual. Took a while to take our orders. I think for the better dining experience you have to be sat up the stairs. Feel you get more attentive service there. Overall not overly impressed with my most recent experience, which is such a shame.

    Too busy, had to wait 20mins to be seated despite booking. Pasta dish was too dry. Shame as first experience was good, they need to limit the customers and focus on the customers rather than numbers through the door

    Great ambience, food comes on time and a fantastic selection of Italian food to choose from. Toilet situation is weird, one person can use the toilets at the time and there are only two, weird location from them too, so much so the servers had a hard time explaining where they are. Desserts were by far the best and the savoury food was lacking for the price, either texturally or flavour wise.

    This was my second visit to your restaurant. The first time, I celebrated my husband’s birthday, and the experience was brilliant. The service, especially from Hana, was excellent, making me want to return. However, today’s service was disappointing. I came to celebrate my third wedding anniversary, but the experience fell short. Our assigned server was busy, so we waited. Another server approached and took our order instead. The steak I wanted was sold out, so I chose another. However, the server didn’t ask about doneness or sauce—he decided himself and simply asked if it was okay. When we tried ordering an extra side, he stopped us, saying it was too much. While I understand concerns about waste, the choice should be ours. The biggest issue came when our food arrived. I ordered clam pasta but received prawn pasta. The staff member serving it was kind and helped correct the mistake. A few minutes later, the manager apologized and assured us the correct pasta would be ready soon. However, the server who took our order insisted he hadn’t made a mistake and that no apology was needed. Hearing that, with no remorse, was shocking. We immediately addressed our concerns with the manager, who seemed genuinely sorry and offered the pasta as a goodwill gesture. However, what we truly wanted was a sincere apology—not a free dish. This left a bad impression on what was supposed to be a special dinner. I strongly suggest retraining this staff member on proper service and professionalism. What we paid for was not a fast-food experience—and honestly, even fast-food service is often better. If we visit again, we’d prefer not to be served by him until he apologizes.

    We had a great meal and with it being a busy Friday night, the service was still friendly and efficient. I normally would come here for pasta, but the fish menu really tempted me last night, I had the sea bream and it was fantastic. We shared the truffle Burrata which is something I wouldn’t normally pick, but the truffle and oil really made it. Everything was excellent.
