Our first dining experience at PJK! A special wedding anniversary! We had reservations, but went to the bar first for cocktails.
The bar was soaking wet and sticky liquid running off the edge! “Please, can you clean this up?”, we asked. The bartenders had NO paper towels or dry cloth towels! No paper bar napkins for our iced drinks, either… just cute little non-absorbent coasters with Kolton doggiy pix on it…very wet and sloppy experience… had to go to the ladies room to get paper towels so we could continue..used these bathrooms paper towels at dinner, too..We should have been seated at a booth, but instead, were plunked down at a table set for 4 in the middle of the dining room. Very noisy; service was rushed and extremely impersonal. We were excited to try the Peking Duck. Had not had it since Chinatown in London a few years ago…While the flavor of the duck was excellent, where were the paper thin pancakes? Where was the abundance of hoisin sauce? The scallions were shredded/ curled and just ok… do not order Peking Duck, as the chewy little triangular PJK bready substitute (and inadequate in #) ) for the traditional pancakes will leave you as disappointed as we were. The manager acknowledged our angst and we were compensated, rightfully so. I really feel embarrassed because we gave good friends PJK gift certificates for Christmas, based on all the wonderful reviews we read about the Naples PJK. Hopefully, policies and procedures will improve at this location because we really need a good Chinese experience in Estero! We’ll give them a month and then make another attempt. Best advice if you go now? Bring a good supply of paper cocktail napkins and dinner napkins, and go for the other items on the menu (not the Peking Duck, until they can “make it right” !)
