An original Taos Icon, the Plaza Café was established on the principals of good food, good value and good service. All recipes tried and true for over 60 years; you will enjoy our food and our prices. Established in 1959.

ENTRANCE ON 4TH STREET. FREE PARKING IN SIMMS GARAGE 5TH LEVEL

When you come to Plaza Cafe de Taos, you immediately feel at home. Since you are booking online, you will no longer need to sign the Registry at the door. You will be given your choice of table. Once you are seated, take your time and enjoy your guest.

We speak French and Spanish fluently.

PROPER ATTIRE REQURED :)

"Casual" okay, "Business Casual" recommended and "Proper Attire" is appreciated, especially on the week-ends-Get to know Chef, he'll always find you a table!

Continue to the 5th level and park. Take elevator down 1 floor. Turn immediately to the left to the breeze way to the Simm's Lobby. Go down 1 floor.

Having lunch at this little café completed a lovely date day that included a rare opportunity to leave the house and take in an exhibit at the ABQ Museum. This café is very close by at the 400 block of Gold SW downtown. The proprietor/sole server distinguished himself for texting me to tell me about the recommended parking spots given the construction nearby. He was kind, personable, and we were in good hands. The ambience can leave much to be desired as the restaurant is composed of a wonderfully smelling kitchen and about three or four physically distanced tables in the lobby of a large, office business, but the food was quite tasty. The corn chips as well as the taco shells appear to be freshly fried in oil, and you might do well to try a combination plate that can include some Bueno brand tamales, roasted chicken, and/or savory beef. All in all it was a good experience. The server/owner does dutifly wear a mask, and he is keen on striking up a good conversation with his guests. I hope the cafe can survive the pandemic.

A great little hidden gem! I couldn't recommend it more, amazing food and super affordable. It's a small business that's just kicking off, so don't expect to be in and out in 15 minutes, but enjoy a nice time with amazing food and great service!

My experience here was good. My wife and I went in for a Valentines Day weekend lunch. We had a good four course lunch. It was nice that the chief gave us so much food for a very good price. I really enjoyed the Mexican plate. My wife had the salmon and that was also good. The restaurant was cold but perhaps it was due to the severe winter storm weather. The chief was good enough to set up a space heater for us next to our dining table. The music which was on was relaxing and entertaining. We enjoyed ourselves at Plaza de Taos Cafe and would definitely return.

Great food and service- very personable! Location is small and I believe they’re still trying to finish. It’s a great deal and hopefully they’ll be able to make it through Covid. Tip a bit extra because prices are inexpensive.

This restaurant appears to be struggling valiantly and courageously through the shutdown and through renovations to the building. Our server/owner did everything he could to make our meal enjoyable, including dispatching his staff to the neighborhood store for cans of Diet Dr. Pepper. It was heartwarming to see such gumption in the face of such adversity.

John (the owner) gave my girlfriend and I the best service I could ever ask for. He is very social and provides a menu with very many delicious options. I highly recommend his restaurant to anyone who wants excellent food at an affordable price with phenomenal service.
