Ponto Lago is criminally underrated. I’m honestly surprised they’re not Michelin rated. At the very least they should be on Guide. Chef Benji does an amazing job bringing various Latin American flavors and aromas to their dishes, while incorporating modern fusion flare to their dishes. First, their Arepas are to die for. Very simple starter that is so addicting. The Pulpo inspired appetizer also has very nice attention to detail, down to the visuals of the dish.
Finally, their wood fire grill does wonder in incorporating just the right amount of smoke flavor to their dishes. My wife is usually very sensitive to smoke smell/flavor but she absolutely loved the smoke incorporated into the chicken + mole dish. Their new experimental scallop dish was such a hit as well.
Alejandro, our waiter was also so attentive to us, making our night such a wonderful date night.
Finally, the price for their quality is unbelievable. I have a feeling they’ll be getting rated highly on some list some time soon so my rec is to try and get a reso before it becomes harder to book
