Advertised as a traditional fish and chips restaurant but it wasn’t even close. Couldn’t eat the chips as they were not fresh and too hard/crispy. Calamari was rubbery and hard on the edges, couldn’t cut it with a knife. Some of it only half battered. So disappointing as didn’t want to waste money and I’m not normally a fussy eater, but literally couldn’t eat it! Massive plates but tiny portion and definitely over-priced. One waitress had a poor attitude, rude in tone, almost like she was annoyed we were there. Man came to adjust the seating directly behind us and I got a chair shoved into my elbow whilst I was eating. Then they seated a huge family right behind us, one guy had his face at my shoulder, when I turned to look at what was going on, which made me feel so uncomfortable. We went to move tables for a little personal space but the waitress stopped us. Then she took the milk away for the teapot so we had to ask for it back. The toilets/bathrooms were dirty and down a steep set of stairs and into a back area which felt uncomfortable going down there alone. We ate what we could in about 10 minutes and then paid at the table and left. Once we crossed over, one of the waiters followed us and told us we hadn’t paid, whilst we were on the street, surrounded by people. I immediately grabbed my receipt and showed him the £50 we had just spent there and told him we definitely have paid. He didn’t apologise, he just looked awkward and shrugged and walked off. So glad I asked for a receipt as am now wondering if that was some sort of scam, considering the awful experience we had there. I definitely wouldn’t go there again and would recommend you take your money elsewhere! And if you want traditional fish and chips - head to the seaside!
