1st time at this restaurant - found it by google searching restaurants in specific suburbs. Was not looking for a cheap eats as I was shouting & sharing the experience with a very dear friend for a long awaited catchup but nor was I looking for a restaurant with exorbitant over-the-top prices for food that wasn't to our likings, overly different or just weird. We both love italian food so that was my preference but wanted italian food that sounded like (via reviews) that it was made authentically & most importantly was made with love. Viewed the location, menus, prices, reviews & parking availability of many restaurants in suburbs around the Brunswick / Moonee Ponds / Essendon suburbs and in the end the Postmistress Eatery was my selected choice and was hoping that it wouldn't disappoint. Disappoint it DID NOT!
Myself & my dear friend absolutely loved, loved, loved it! We enjoyed starters of the Bruschetta - 1 each - best Bruschetta we have ever had along with sharing an Arancino Siciliano each. For mains, my friend enjoyed the Agnello (slow cooked rich lamb ragu) Pasta & I enjoyed the Prawn Risotto special (it was delish!!). We washed these meals down with an alcoholic beverage & water. I had planned on also having a dessert but our bellies were both very satisfied after this (I'll definitely have it next time!).
We arrived for an early dinner at 5pm and were the first ones there but as the evening progressed the place was buzzing with customers. We didn't really notice the noise and didn't have to scream or experience difficulty hearing because we were fortunate enough to have a 2 seater table with perplex partitions on either side of our table - best ever!! I normally struggle with hearing in such environments but the partitions made such a huge difference. Myself & my friend enjoyed 3 wonderful hours of catchup together enjoying an amazing dinner.
Postmistress Eatery is definitely going to be my go-to restaurant for future special dinners with special friends.
