A Berg Hospitality Group original concept, Prime 131 is a live-fire steakhouse and sushi bar within a revamped industrial space at The Docks at Timbergrove. Evoking the electric ambiance of New York’s chic yet edgy Meatpacking District in the early 90s, Prime 131 ignites a fresh dining experience in Houston where the artistry of grilling takes center stage.

A protein-forward concept with Korean and Japanese influence, Prime 131 creates a completely unique meat experience where diners watch their meal be prepared on four central wood fire grills and two Josper charcoal ovens. In addition, a full sushi bar and four Korean barbeque style tables offer curated experiences featuring some of the most exclusive cuts in the world.

  • Korean Grill Top Dining Experience at Prime 131

    Our four exclusive, Korean grill top dining tables are sized for parties of 4-6. We are happy to accept parties of 2-3 at our first seating (4-5:30pm) or last seating (anytime after 9:30pm), but please call 713.840.1553 to reserve it with our host as we do not accept online reservations for parties under 4 guests. A cancellation fee of $50/guest will be applied if your reservation is canceled within 24 hours of your reservation seating time. If your party arrives late or is incomplete more than 15 minutes past the reservation time, we will try our best to accommodate you but may need to expedite your dining experience or reschedule it in order to honor the next reservation on the table.

    My wife and I decided to celebrate her birthday by trying a new restaurant, and while we were eager to experience something different, we quickly realized it wasn’t the right fit for us. As we sat down, we were excited about the menu options. My wife ordered the Branzoni, and I went with the shrimp dish. When the food arrived, I was taken aback to find only three large shrimp on my plate. For almost $40, I expected more substantial portions. To make matters worse, the asparagus was priced at $16 for just 5 or 6 spears, which felt very overpriced for the small amount we received. My wife’s fish, however, was fresh and cooked well, so we do give credit to the chefs for their preparation. Adding to the discomfort, our table was directly under an air conditioning vent that blasted cold air nonstop. We mentioned it to the staff, and the manager was kind enough to move us to a different table, which we appreciated. As a nice touch, they also gave my wife a complimentary dessert and a birthday card, which was a thoughtful gesture. While we were grateful for the friendly and accommodating service, the high prices and food that didn’t quite meet our expectations left us disappointed.

    Delicious appetizers and cocktails. Comprehensive wine list suitable for entrees. Highly recommend their surf and turf option. Ricotta Mac and cheese, mushrooms, spinach - so delicious! Skillet brownie is a must - the absolute best! Louise delivered superior service and excellent recommendations. Loved the interior - very unique - Prime 131 is an experience not to be missed.

    From the moment we sat down, I had a feeling our experience at Prime 131 wouldn’t be as great as expected. The bar selection was disappointing—they didn’t carry Caymus, Prisoner, or Lychee Martinis. Service was a bit unorganized. We were first greeted by one person who handed us menus and said our waiter would be over shortly. Then, another staff member came by and informed us that they don’t have assigned waiters, as they all just help each other. The appetizers and sushi rolls were good, but the oysters were incredibly small. For the main course, we ordered a tomahawk steak, along with lobster and king crab for the table. However, what was brought out was a pre-sliced steak on a board—not a tomahawk at all. At best, it was a 16oz ribeye, with four pieces being entirely fat. When we pointed this out, they offered to make individual steaks for us, but by that time, the restaurant was closed, and the entire staff was watching us, making for a very uncomfortable dining experience. Unfortunately, when the steaks arrived, they were over-charred and burnt. For a $1,000 dinner, we left disappointed and unsatisfied. The one highlight of the evening was Gustavo—his service stood out and was the best part of the experience.

    We sat at the fire side bar, and Adam served us. BEST SERVICE EVER. I had one of the best strawberry lemon drops with tequila in my life by Oscar the bartender.

    We had appetizers and steaks. The food was good but nothing out of the ordinary. The Parkerhouse rolls which were touted as a specialty were a disappointment -- a bit burned and no better than grocery store rolls. At this price point, there are probably better options. The service was outstanding and the drinks satisfactory.

    Food was OK. Sides were way too small and were not great. Desserts were very good. Did not care for the ambiance of the restaurant. Service was good.

    First time visiting Prime 131 with my husband and teenage son. We were all pleasantly full, feeling energized with ambiance and feeling like Gustavo knew us forever! We will definitely be back.

    Service was tops. Ordered everything and everyone enjoyed. Happy to see a high end restaurant in the neighborhood. This may be my new go to.
