Visiting Kansas City with friends a definite objective was a night of quality BBQ. Q39 seemed to be on everybody's top list and they did not fail to deliver. We had a reservation and that was able to be honored within a couple of minutes of the designated time despite the overflowing crowd. During the busy times the noise level is high but on the other hand this is not a place for white linen and quiet conversation.
We shared the wings which do live up to their billing as a top winner. If you want the burnt ends you have to get a specific sandwich or the brisket combo plate. Wanting the burnt ends we went with the brisket combo plate and just added some ribs to share. Everything including the sides (try the white bean cassoulet as something different for a BBQ place). Service was attentive though, with a Friday night crowd you can wait for food or drink at times. No fault of the staff who were excellent.
