I was really excited to go given the things I heard and my recent nice meal at Hot Stone. Basically even though I booked the Omakase meal they put us by the dishwashing machine for over an hour until the table was free. By that point the meal wasn’t much fun and wished they’d told me the issue straight away and let us go to Nando’s or something. There’s better places in London and you can get better service.

Wonderful food with a story, the most authentic Japanese cuisine, i've found in London. Great service, very attentive and humurous. Only issue and its a small one for me, the Zen garden in the window could have done with a dust.

Another amazing meal at Rai. The team are very welcoming and attentive throughout. I would recommend the sushi counter experience as watching Chef Padam and the sous chef at work is a wonderful experience in itself. Every dish was delicious and we look forward to visiting again soon. Thank you.

Really delicious meal at RAI. Fantastic food and expertly crafty. The omakase was a little slow in parts but gave space between the courses. Some truly incredible nigiri, including tuna cheek seared with charcoal - one of the best bits of sushi I’ve ever had. Really worth checking out.

13 course omakase ordered for two people. Food: assortment of sushi/sashimi and “filler courses”. Mainly Japanese fusion with a modern twist - best suited to casual/western diners who are not fussed about the authenticity of the food. Not an authentic omakase food selection - decent quality food but unremarkable for the price. Staff: staff were very nice and polite. None were Japanese, for those who care about authenticity. Service: this one is poor from me. The bar seats are too close together - this means the waiters cannot reach from the sides. The dishes were placed and removed through the gap between us or the next patron, and there was too much bumping and brushing. The service is catered towards western dining with too much engagement and too many questions from the servers. Atmosphere: calm and quiet. Appears clean. Verdict: 3/5. Very nice staff, unfortunately with unknowledgeable owners or management. Decent food but consistent with price. Probably wouldn’t come back as there are better and more authentic omakase places for the same price. Did not feel at ease with the constant interruptions. This may be a positive for some diners, but definitely not characteristic of an authentic omakase experience.
