Do not eat there! The food presentation was so bad. A Caesar salad was 5 romaine leaves with a couple of stale croutons and a dime size dollop of dressing. The cacio e pepe was an insult to that dish. If you don’t mind getting ripped off with sub par food, in a nice setting, this is your spot.

The Rams Head Inn is perfect for you if: 1. You love rude, arrogant and dismissive service from host and manager. 2. You love when you pay for a $759 room for a special occasion and are downgraded without explanation or apology. 3. You love being offered wet chairs for your party of ten celebrating your 30th anniversary! If you like sitting on napkins to keep your pants dry, as host Troy suggested we do, then definitely go to The Rams Head Inn! 4. If you love being seated under a big tree dripping on you throughout your meal, well then head to The Rams Head Inn! 5. If you really love it when you actually wait to speak to manager Dennis about what went wrong during your $2000 meal and stay- and then are promised that you will get a call back to “make it right”- but the never get a call back, then The Rams Head Inn is a great place to go. 6. If you love a sunset, but have a knot in your stomach because you were treated so poorly, then head to Shelter Island. 7. If you’re looking for decent, but very overpriced food, I’d recommend this place! There are plenty of nice places to watch a sunset without being mistreated. Find another spot to watch the sunset.

We enjoyed another wonderful night at Rams Head. We arrived early to get drinks and enjoy them out on the lawn while looking out at the water. Then we were seated at a beautiful table on their patio, which also has a gorgeous view. We started with two glasses of wine with delicious warm bread. So many restaurants have used the pandemic to no longer serve bread, but Rams Head offers a delicious bread basket with warm rolls and three different toppings. So good! Then we shared a romaine salad, I had the chicken and my husband had the scallops. All very good! The restaurant isn’t cheap, but it’s worth it for a special occasion. The service was wonderful, starting with Dennis the manager who came to check on us often, and our wonderful server Sophia. Will be back again soon!

The food was outstanding. I got the corn bisque, oysters and tuna and everything tasted amazing! Great restaurant! We were able to watch a beautiful sunset as well.

Absolutely fabulous meal! We came as a group, and arrived at this aesthetically gorgeous location to find our lovely table outside on a covered patio. The decor inside is well appointed modern intertwined with historically charming details. The server was friendly & knowledgeable & the sommelier was happy to share his recommendations and make pleasant conversation with guests. All 5 of us enjoyed our meals as well as excellent wine.

Phenomenal atmosphere and sunset. Very special. Liz was an amazing waitress- attentive, calm and professional. Food was very good, maybe not excellent, but very good. Very special place to celebrate a birthday! We will be back for sure.

We’ve been going to Rams Head at least 5 times each summer for the past 20 years. It’s a beautiful hotel restaurant set up from the water with a spectacular view. We always arrive at least a half hour before our dinner reservation to get a drink at the bar and bring it down to the Adirondack chairs and look out at the water. We each had a martini. Very good. Then after our drinks on the lawn, we went to the desk and told them we were ready to be seated. There were only around 4 occupied tables, so there should have been no issue with picking which table we wanted, but the person who brought us out to the patio wanted to seat us where he wanted. When we asked for our usual table, we were met with a little attitude, which I didn’t appreciate. When you’re about to spend 150 dollars on dinner, you should be treated nicely. But we insisted, and he reluctantly gave us the table we requested. From there things went better. Our server, Bridget, was very nice and very efficient. We were first brought a delicious bread basket, with three different sauces. All delicious. We had a chopped romaine salad which was very good and enough to share. For entrees, my husband had the halibut and I had a chicken dish. Both were delicious. We also had very nice wines by the glass, a Chardonnay and a Rose. In total, for 3 glasses of wine, the salad, and two entrees, the bill was like 150 dollars. Not cheap, but totally worth it. We will be back.

We have had celebratory dinners at the Inn for more than 30 years but last night, the 30th of May 2022 may be the last for a long, long time. The view is great but that is where things stop. Our appetizers were too large and the main courses were practicably inedible. The pork chop had a good gravy but it was tasteless - was it wild bora? Was it microwaved? The pepper encrusted tuna was serve cold - not chilled juts cold as were the few string beans hidden under it . The tuna was tasteless - I have never had so disgusting tuna in my very extensive international dining experience. Was this a frozen tuna not fresh and/or microwaved? Then things went from bad to laughable worse - it took more that a quarter of an hour for our desert not to come! Then there was the check with tip >$200! A waste of time, money and a spoiled celebration ! We may return but only if there is a new kitchen from chef, to dishwasher, to server, to executive chef. What a pity to have such wonderful ambience disgraced by phony food at an exuberant price - McDonalds is at least honest!
