Travis and Ryan Croxton debut their spinoff from the highly acclaimed Rappahannock Oyster Bar at Union Market in Washington, DC. They’ve even brought their DC Chef, Kevin Kelly, to man the kitchen at this outpost. This location in the historic Cigar Factory Building on East Bay Street, allows room for Chef Kelly to showcase more of his cuisine to a larger audience, including an incredibly unique 40 seat raw bar. Oysters grown by the Croxton’s own Rappahannock Oyster Company are accentuated, but Kelly’s signature dishes like lambs’n’clams, crabcakes, shrimp & grits and the best po’ boy you’ll ever eat are enough reasons in their own right for constant visits. Coupled with a great cocktail program and focus on local ingredients, ROB is a great place for any occasion.

                                                                                                                                    A thoroughly enjoyable lunch - from the hostess who seated us, to our wait person who was knowledgable, polite and honored our requested pacing and the stars of the show - a dozen oysters on the half shell served with outstanding sauces plus horseradish just in case you needed an additional kick. We split a bowl of shrimp gumbo - the soup of day. It was well prepared, filling and tasty. A glass each of Riesling accompanied our lunch. We will return to sample other goodies!!

We had oysters at the bar vey slow to refill drinks or recognize we need more oysters. Been there many of times. All good but be more attentive to your customers.                                                                                                                                     The smoked jalapeño baked oysters and the Parmesan baked oysters were fabulous, and at $3 each, makes them a bargain for Charleston. Go and try them, you won’t regret it.

The only reason I did not rate a 5 was I was disappointed in the cerviche for its price point. The amount of fish was lacking compared to the juice that it was served in.

The grilled oysters were just as delicious! And what an awesome addition-scallops! Grilled scallops with delicious cheese/bacon & jalapeño slice on top. Amazing! My husband and I continued to eat just these two items until our belly’s were full. Yum!!

Had garlic oysters today for the first time. They were delicious. There were six of us for lunch. This is a quiet, special place for lunch not in the middle of tourist town. Great chef and wait staff!!❤️ 🥳
