This was our first time at Rayson's Winery since they have been under new ownership (formerly Rayson Winery). We chose the winery to celebrate my daughter's birthday, starting with a 90-minute wine tasting. Sophie was our sommelier, enhancing the tasting experience with her knowledge and recommendations. I highly recommend the tasting, which includes 7 of their wines, economically priced at $30 per person.
Next, we moved to our dining reservation at the Bistro Europa -- and it did not disappoint! The Bistro is a beautiful, elegant, intimate setting with a window to the chef station and a breathtaking chandelier that seemingly fills half the room.
We started our dining experience with the deviled eggs du jour; that evening, the flavor profile was pickle, with a relish inside the egg mixture and crispy fried pickle strips on top. We also enjoyed the twice-baked goat cheese souffle appetizer, garnished with a tasty salad containing a surprise ingredient: Bistro-made almond brittle crumble! So delicious; the chef could easily market that as a Bistro specialty and make big buck!
Dinner was exceptional: we enjoyed braised lamb, Piccola pappardelle pasta, crab-stuffed haddock, and a 16-oz ribeye with potato gratin. Of course, we all shared our dishes and each bite was better than the next! What an outstanding dining experience—all five of us were beyond pleased. We shared a piece of chocolate torte (with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream) for dessert -- which was a perfect way to end the meal. All this plus a bottle of wine and our total bill was only $258! From the pleasant, knowledgeable, and friendly staff to the chef's creations, from the great attention to details with each dish to the exceptional service we received, I give this experience a "10"!
The hubs and I look forward to returning soon to celebrate his birthday; the braised lamb and almond brittle are on both our minds for the next visit!
