Red Dog is an authentic Bar and American BAR-B-Q restaurant, serving 18-hour roast ribs, brisket, aged chuck steak burgers and much more, all best enjoyed with tasty cocktails or milkshakes.


Barbeque grew up in the South of the USA where cooks learned to slow roast cuts of meat over fire pits to make them tender. Exposure to the smoke of the smouldering wood added a distinctive smoky and juicy taste to the meat. Our award-winning smokers have been imported from the USA and are built to recreate the cooking process of those original fire pits. We use the traditional American woods of hickory and mesquite to give a full smoke flavour, and the meat stays in the smoker for up to 18 hours.

    My ribs were chewy- I couldn’t get the meat off the bone and I wouldn’t have fed these to my dog. Pickles were placed on top of the French toast- this was just pure soggy pickle juice bread. Awful. The chicken was overcooked and couldn’t get this off the bone. I asked for mayo and was not bought this by the lad. We was asked if our meal was ok after my husband had ate his and they could see I had a full plate of food and never asked if there was anything wrong with mine. Poor service, poor meal. Disappointed as we come a lot.

    Not the best experience, the staff made us feel as if we were wasting their time, some food arrived when we had finished the main and the beef long rib was overcooked and dry. Not somewhere I will recommend, perhaps the experience may be better in other locations.

    Lovely meat platter. Far too much for two people but best meat I've had in a long time. Only a small amount of veg included

    Food was incredible, staff were great also. Only thing that made me not go 5 star is the mens toilets were not nice at all. Also the confusion with the pricing for the sharing platters, needs to be more clear or told by staff. Other than that it was awesome and I would go back again!

    Wow Travelled 2 hours as the sales pitch of the restaurant was excellent. on fb ... that's where it ended food wasn't good at all everything covered in salt ,I asked for chicken fingers ( or equivalent) and to only have BBQ sauce, Its confirmed then arrives with ranch sauce ? liked doused in it ... They put the sauce on things not in side bowl ! , I eat out a bit tbh and only place i walked out from and the 2 starters and 2 drinks came to over £ 30 so not cheap , I paid for starters as I did eat bits but seen the mains and no thanks , I wouldn't go back .

    Food was lovely, just the plate sizes for the burgers. They needed to be bigger, this would minimise the mess it causes 🤣.

    The customer service, food and environment was excellent. This is the best American bbq I have had in england full stop! Portions are large including the drinks. I had the USS Orgean platter and it did not disappoint. I am definitely going back because not only was the platter amazing the burgers look it too.

    Completely disappointed with our meal last night. We chose to come here for our first date night without kids in a while because we’d heard good things. Well, we definitely won’t be returning. On arrival we were told there was no chicken… AT ALL. This restricted my choices as I do like a chicken burger. So we ordered a burger at £14.50 and a plate at £24.50 expecting a normal sized portion (being Texan BBQ). How wrong we were. My husband’s meal was basically a child’s portion, with 2 small pieces of brisket, a small pork shoulder and a hot dog sausage, with a small teaspoon of coleslaw, 2 bits of pickle and a slice of dry, slightly toasted bread (which was clearly bought from the pound shop). My burger came on a child’s plate with 2 pieces of pickle. No sides, nothing. Not even a bit of coleslaw! We asked if it came with fries, the server said “let me check”. He returned with a small portion of fries, which was added to our bill without our knowledge at £5.50! So 3 drinks (2 of which were flat beers) 2 small meals and fries cost £70!! I usually go by the moto, you pay for what you get but in this instance, we did not. We absolutely love Hickory’s, and was hoping this would compete but unfortunately it did not. Don’t waste your hard earned money.
