   The volume of the music is loud, no problem with that - Except the subwoofer are in the soffit of the drop ceiling making the dining room a giant subwoofer ! Meaning the entire place vibrate, which is a pity to enjoy the delicious food !

   Service was top notch, food was outstanding and perfectly seasoned. The music was on point and I had a blast with good company.

   Great atmosphere & our server INDIA & her trainee ISABEL were absolutely charming and engaging. There was a private party in the “Roost” so when the restaurant began to fill up, the service tanked. Bar service was too slow. We had a cocktail each & then a beer and a wine afterwards and it took forever. Food was a combination of excellent & mediocre. Deviled Eggs & Cornbread appetizers left us wanting more, but the mains were a disappointment. “Yardbird” was tasty but not hot and served on a bed of (tepid) collards that were absolutely drowning in all the hot sauce they sat on. Inedible. We asked for some white meat and got a wing, thigh, and drumstick. They were out of the sweet potato side, so we ordered Mac & cheese, which was just ok. “Ice cream sandwich” was so hard to eat as the cookies were hard as a rock & the ice cream was either freezer burned or ice milk. Try the Lady Day cocktail & the Old Uncle Duke; and stick to the apps. Disappointing overall, but great to meet & chat with our servers. We’ll try the Harlem location once we’re back in NY.

   Food was very well seasoned and delicious, the only throw away that doesn’t need ordered is the Mac and cheese. Not that good. The candied yam had changed since our last visit and wasn’t as good either. Crab fritters, conch ceviche, yard bird, fish fry and short ribs were all fantastic. Don’t expect good service. Our waitress introduced herself and then we never saw her again until the check. The manager took our orders. I asked for hot sauce for the fish fry, never got it because our waitress never came back. We were non-existent as a table of 4 to the other large table.

   I went for the Sunday Evening Brunch. It was the first time they were doing it so have to cut some slack but it was chaotic. The service did not know whether happy hour was on or not. There was a band but couldn’t sit anywhere they were visible and couldn’t hear them in the backyard. The food may have been left over from brunch cause it was cold and stale. The variety was good but not enough to salvage poor service, stale food, and a bad restaurant layout.

   A great brunch. Great people, great service, nice ambiance, and very good food. Reminded me of going to my grandmother’s house after church as a child. The price $65pp is very reasonable, and a lost art in Miami. If I absolutely had to nitpick, the only thing that could be better are the drink options. I understand wanting to keep a level of class and professionalism at such a nice venue, however it would be nice to have a timed bottomless mimosa option at a reasonable price ($35-$50 pp). I think they only allow you to purchase it by the bottle, which is around $79. Also, our server (lady outside) was incredible. Just like all of the chefs serving the food, great attitude and great people, but she was definitely overworked. As good as this brunch is, the word will be getting out quickly, so I’d just make sure staffing is ready for it. Highly recommend and one of the best brunch options in Miami in my honest opinion. Will be back for sure.

    Leandro was excellent! His recommendations helped us as we selected the salmon and ox tails. Every drop of food was delicious! Also I met the curator of the bourbon Edmund’s Honor, Tracie Franklin. It was delicious in the Old Fashioned. Also I had an Uncle Nearest Old Fashioned:). Great time and food. Love the vibe and all of the Black History prominently displayed. Wow!
