Food was good, not remarkable. Service for drinks from the bar, after seated was exceptionally long. Delivery of food was slightly less of a wait. Pretty disappointed that the Gospel singer was not there today.

The food was interesting; a southern Caribbean concept. The portions were good and we enjoyed everything. Everything had a spice to it. To my surprise, the greens were very spicy, but tolerable. The service was not very good. Our server didn’t introduce himself, so we thought he was the server assistant. One person asked for an appetizer as their meal, yet the plate was sent out 15 mins before everyone else’s. He wasn’t very talkative and did the bare minimum. He would stand there and wait for us to speak to him. This would be a good date night spot. I wouldn’t recommend it as a family spot. The restaurant is very beautiful inside and out.

I took my fiance to Red Rooster for his birthday. My recent visit to this restaurant was frustrating from the moment we arrived. The initial interaction with the host was far from welcoming - we were abruptly informed they were fully booked, despite having a reservation and seeing multiple empty tables. When I mentioned our reservation, the host's response was dismissive, stating they were holding the dining room and not seating guests. The situation did not improve when I approached the manager about the delay. Her response was curt and unhelpful, essentially telling me to have a drink and that she would come find me when they resumed seating (which she never did). Adding insult to injury, we were seated after our reservation time, and another group that arrived after us was seated before us. The reservation management appeared completely disorganized. Once seated, we learned that several menu items were unavailable - a detail that would have been helpful to know upon arrival. Our appetizer was initially prepared incorrectly and had to be sent back, further extending our already prolonged dining experience. The sole bright spot of the evening was our waiter, Carlos, who was attentive and provided excellent service. A few dishes stood out positively - the oxtail rice, collard greens, and cornbread were quite good. However, these bright spots were not enough to salvage the overall disappointing experience. Given the poor organization, dismissive staff (outside of Carlos), and inconsistent service, I cannot recommend this restaurant and will not be returning.

This was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had this year. They were out of most items in the menu. Service was super slow. My chicken was raw and cold on the inside. After I pointed out to the waiter that my chicken was raw, I was gaslit and told that’s just the brine. But on further inspection he said oh yeah that’s not cooked. The manager came over and gave me such attitude and made excuses about how they had a party upstairs and that’s why things were slow. The manager didn’t offer anything to make up for the raw chicken I had been served. She just kind of shrugged and said what do you want me to do about it? Overall I would not recommend this establishment. The one in nyc is so good and so friendly. This place was just average and not worth the hassle. Save your money and just go to Popeyes.

Always a great meal! We came in on Sunday evening, and it was just starting to pick up. We had to wait a little while for a server to finally introduce himself, but that was fine. Food came out very quickly, and everything was delicious. The African Goddess salad is a must every time we come!.

Food was excellent and waiter was very nice and apologetic. But, it took forever to get our food. People who came after us received their food before us and were completely finished with their food before we received our food. The manager offered us drinks to make up for taking so long to get us our food. The drinks even took forever to come. The restaurant wasn’t even packed when we arrived.

I made reservations for my brother’s 72nd birthday. The hostess was wonderful in accommodating us with a high chair and even asked if we brought a cake (we didn’t, we were going to have dessert). We ordered our food at 7pm and at 8:15pm we were still waiting. I got up 2x to ask about our food.. our server was young and nice but not very experienced apparently. We finally got our dinner and my mom’s risotto was cold. Sent it back. Waited again. My oxtail was amazing. The risotto was the worst I’ve ever tried. The Mac and cheese and corn bread and fried yucca all were amazing. The fish fry was also great. It’s unfortunate a lot of it wasn’t hot as it appeared several dishes sat waiting to be served on others. Half our table got up because we had a 2 y/o and it was not way past her bed time but the other half stayed to finish our meals. The server came back and dropped the check on the table with an automatic 20% gratuity and didn’t care to ask if we wanted dessert. It was reserved as a birthday dinner. The whole thing was a disaster. I asked to speak to the manager, Charlotte, who was apparently upset and took off half the bill and the gratuity and asked if she could make it right if we came back. I’ve been here before for my birthday and loved it and went to Red Rooster in Harlem when it opened and actually dined with Chef Samuelssen and Chef Ludo years ago. I’m a huge fan. I was embarrassed for my family because I love the restaurant, the vibe, the food, the music, all of it. This was sadly a fail. I’ll give it another chance at some point but was very disappointed last night. I did leave the server gratuity, of course, but he needs better training on navigating situations like this. He should have advocated for us and maybe brought out appetizers on the house and a couple of desserts and brought the manager out to apologize for the delays in the kitchen. Instead he thought it would go away as is.
