Located right by Clapham Common, Red Vine is a neighbourhood restaurant that celebrates Modern British food with a focus on wine.

Only using local ingredients, owner Richard Herbert and Head Chef Julio Amado have created a delicious, seasonal British menu with a Mediterranean twist.
Slow-cooked ox cheeks; deep-fried mussels served with aioli; and truffle tortelloni tossed in garlic butter all feature on the beautifully curated menu, which is divided into small plates and large plates. This is food that’s supposed to be lingered over. And with an uncomplicated wine list and creative cocktails, there are plenty of reasons to stay a little longer.

The charming restaurant welcomes dogs and is beautifully decorated with colourful walls and original church pews. A conservatory in the back with stained glass windows and an enchanting garden will soon open for al fresco dining. In winter, customers will be able to enjoy cosy meals curled up in front of the log burner inside.

An underwhelming dinner on a summer Friday evening. The staff were so young and clearly undertrained that I felt sorry for them. They were confused on how to use the ipad ordering system (fair enough so would I), asked us to tell them our table number (for table service in a restaurant !), couldn't tell us what food was being put in front of us (eg were these the chorizo or veggie croquettes), forgot to bring water and simply looked out of their depth. The food was ok value and pleasant but nothing standout. Cocktails were fine. The building itself feels unloved and slightly grubby, especially the toilets that had with hand written notes on ripped A4 paper stuck on the wall. None of it felt like "A Modern British restaurant with a curated wine list". Overall it was more like a pub meal / cheap nightclub feel than a restaurant and I was embarrassed that I chose it for dinner for my friends.

If I could give it zero stars I would. Drinks took 45 minutes to arrive. Food all arrived to the wrong table then was cold. Totally unfair on staff to have 2 people on a trail shift on a Saturday night. We left without eating.

The food was OK. A few niggles but at only £26 per head for 3 courses we couldn't complain. The service was good and they were very friendly. We went early and by the time we left quite a few tables were filled so I suspect it gets much busier later in the evening. An enjoyable meal.

Hadn't tried this since it reopened. Really slow service and first time I've seen a restaurant get fish and chips wrong. Almost not edible

Such a great evening here! The cocktails were amazing and our waiter was really friendly and helpful. The food was good too, especially the fish and chips. Will coming back to enjoy the garden again soon.
