Proudly local and family-owned, we serve elevated comfort food including wood-fired pizza and rotisserie fare in the heart of Downtown San Mateo (located inside a historical train station!). Try local favorites like our signature pizzas, prime ribs and roast chickens, as well as many vegan and vegetarian-friendly dishes to choose from. Our indoor and outdoor dining are open, so come experience our grand main dining room or dine outside in our state-of-the-art heated covered patio -- kids love watching the trains go by! Takeout service for pickup and delivery are available - Order online through our website www.risewoodfire.com.

    We were disappointed tonight. Our waitress did not give us the happy hour pricing, our pizza did not arrive after 45 minutes and they seemed disorganized and over subscribed. Salad was good, pizza mushy and hard to eat.

    Several of us ordered Prime Rib and were impressed with the variety of sides to choose from. Prime rib is only cooked rare but you can ask them to heat it closer to med rare. Another ordered the beef ribs and was happy with it as the meat was so tender. We just happened to have reservations on the night the Holiday Train showed up so traffic was everywhere and we had to park close to El Camino but it made for a festive evening. The doors in the restaurant opens up to the platform so expect some blaring train horns during your dinner.

    Very good food. We love their prime rib and the sandwiches as well. Service usugood, not great.

    We were warmly welcomed and ushered to the covered patio area. They accommodated us early. The food was great. Our ceiling heater wasn't working, so the worker went outside to bring in a standing heater unit. So kind to rectify the problem so quickly and successfully. We ordered a salad, chicken appetizer, cornbread and two pizzas. Everything was great and flavorful. As much as the desserts looked appetizing, we were too full! I would definitely go back!

    We went here two days in a row - It was THAT GOOD! We had a party of 8 the first day and went back with just 2 for a second time Wait staff was great both times. Portions are generous and staff is attentive. Variety is wide with something for every taste. Pizzas are incredibly fresh, crispy and loaded with toppings. Chicken was unbelievably moist with a crispy skin. Wine selection is considerable. Deserts are also wonderful! Ambience is comfortable, but active and the area is worth walking around. OUTSTANDING in every way. This will be my "goto" whenever I'm in the area.

    The food never disappoints . This time , all 3 of us ordered pizzas . We all agreed it is the best . The crust is out of this world :))

    This is my 4th time here for an event. Each time has been exceptional, today was no different. We came to celebrate my daughter’s 22nd birthday. Our bill was reasonable considering there was 8 of us with drinks! Good food, good portions and great service! We will definitely be back!
