Opened in 2010, Robata JINYA reflects cooking techniques and traditions passed down from Tomo’s father combined with his personal deep appreciation for the City of Angels. Now expanding to Honolulu, Hawaii, Robata JINYA plays to traditional robatayaki service of slow charcoal-grilled skewered meats and vegetables as well as exotic sushi and sashimi plates. Tomo aims to provide a lively space where sharing of small plates, as well as conversation, is encouraged. Further supporting the mission of comradery, Tomo chose the name “JINYA” in reference to the historical estates of samurai that later served as community meeting points. Welcome to Robata JINYA.

    Sushi Omakase Course ...seating in front of the Sushi Chefs. Happy conversation with awesome food. We will go back more often from now on.

    The food was decent. The service was terrible. We ordered a bottle of sparkling water. When the glass was half filled they wait staff poured in tap water. The waiter claimed the vegan ramen was his favorite dish. When we asked what’s in it, he said vegetables and shrimp! Realizing his idiotic statement, he ran off saying he’ll check. We ordered chicken, mushrooms and sweet potato that never came. This guy was a total disaster. Not only incompetent, but a liar. Never going here again.

    After being seated and ordering drinks, it took about 20 minutes for our server to return to our table to take our food order. Seems a tad bit lengthy to go unattended without any sort of heads up. However, the food was great and the overall experience progressively improved so I am not mad, but communication could have been better.

    It was absolutely enjoyable! Their HAPPY HOUR had a wide choice of reasonably priced food and drinks on the menu from 4PM - 6PM. Our waiter was helpful when asked what were customer favorites and each dish was a winner. We will definitely be making this one of our go to restaurants in Kakaako. Parking is just across the street at the Ward theatre.

    Good 👍 food 🍱 and drinks 🍹 are to be found at this nice staple of beautiful 🤩 downtown Waikiki Beach 🏖️. Authentic Japanese 🇯🇵 fare is the name of the game here. Located on the famous Ala Moana Boulevard .

    We had the Taste of Ward pre-fixe menu. Everything was delicious. The service was great also. I wish this was a regular menu option.

    We had a great dinner at Robata jINYA! We shared all the dishes and everything tasted amazing. The raw fish was very fresh and each dish had its own unique flavor!
