Root & Bone draws its name from the staples of the American diet: meat and vegetables. It promises to deliver culinary excellence with southern charm.
Rooted and raised in the South, Chef Jeff McInnis grew up with southern comfort food and hospitality in his blood. His partner, Chef Janine Booth, hailing from Australia, brings with her a true passion for uniting people through food. This power couple already boasts several successful restaurants across the country and the Caribbean, with numerous accolades including three James Beard Award nominations. They are thrilled to be opening their fourth Root & Bone here in WNC. Root & Bone will showcase their southern-inspired cuisine with a modern twist, featuring award-winning dishes such as the Sweet Tea Brined Fried Chicken, Braised Brisket Meatloaf, Grilled Peach & Tomato Caprese Salad, and Barbecue Spareribs, alongside classic casual items like the R&B Burger, Crispy Fried Chicken Biscuits

Numerous visits to R&B. Never disappoints. We were unable to avoid the bar side of the restaurant last night. It’s a tale of two completely different spaces. Bar side is not the place you want to be for conversation or relaxation due to noise level. Food, Service 10/10

So the meatloaf and the fried chicken seem to be good. The wife and kids were pleased. I unfortunately didn’t have the same experience. We went on Christmas Eve and I had the prime rib. I asked for it rare, however medium rare is what the server said it was to be served. It was served and I was given the end piece which was let’s just say “done”. Flavor was good, but at $56 a well done slice of beef and a scoop of mashed potatoes. The waiter didn’t comeback until later in the sitting so complaining wasn’t a thing. A bit disappointing. We went to finish with a brownie ice cream skillet, an expresso martini and an ice tea refill all ordered at the same time. The brownie was finished well before the the expresso martini and tea showed up. The server knew that wasn’t right and said well I took the desert off with a “birthday “ credit and said he didn’t get management involved by doing it this way. First time, a bit disappointed.

Our party of six were all pleasantly surprised as this was our first visit. Two locals in this party and the rest outlanders. We were greeted warmly and our waiter was well-informed about the menu and preparation of the food. Our starters were all over the top delicious and chef-inspired. The BLT was by far the favorite but bacon board was also a hit. We all ordered either the ribs or their famous lemon-dusted fried chicken. Everyone enjoyed their dinner immensely and boxes were brought to take an abundance of this delicious fare home for leftovers! It will not be wasted! I can not close without commenting on the ambience. It was warm, inviting and cleverly decorated. We will return!

The meal was wonderful! The service was great! The restaurant was cozy with Christmas decorations and everyone was festive and kind! I'd go back in a heartbeat!

Our server, Benjamin, did a fantastic job welcoming us and highlighting the menu. It was pretty busy and yet our food came quickly and was paced well. Appreciated the mock tail menu and loved the comfort style southern food. Was absolutely worth the drive from Asheville before a show at the Flat Rock Playhouse.

All the food on the menu looked delicious. I had a hard time selecting. I fondly decided on the trout. Great pick. The rest of our party had the rib eye and the meatloaf. Everything was amazing. We’ll be back for sure.

Beautiful restaurant. Excellent and warm service. Delicious food. You know you love a place when you are planning return while you are still there. Fried chicken was very flavorful. “Meatloaf” was not traditional, but fantastic. Worth the drive from wherever you are.

All of the staff were very friendly and on top of things, beautiful place, great food choices and drinks! Looking forward to summer weather and enjoying more time there. Definitely a hidden treasure!

This was our first visit to this delightful restaurant. Sunday brunch was delicious, the shrimp and grits scrumptious and the ambiance makes it very special. Highly recommended.

The best chicken and biscuits, I order these every time I go. Wine prices are reasonable, parking is easy, great large center bar if you don’t want a table. I have taken several guests here and everyone loves it. Ribs are awesome too.
