   First of all, our server, Chris, was excellent! We tried the Fried Squash Blossoms, Spring Pea Salad, Cast Iron Cornbread,My Mother’s Gumbo, Duck Fat Fried Chicken, Kurobuta Pork Belly, Drop Bisquits, Dark Chocolate Lava Cake and Orange Juice Cake. Everything was so delicious, and we will definitely return! 😋

   Dined at Roots Southern Table while we were visiting Dallas. They do not have a GF menu, but the staff was knowledgeable and accommodating. We loved both of our entrees. One was New Zealand lamb chops (substituted the fried yams as the Hoppin John is not GF) and the pork belly. We will return when we come back to Dallas. Recommend reservations as they were very busy on a Thursday night.

   Felt like I had to try the fried chicken, which exceeded expectations, but really sufficient for a party of 4, too much for just my wife and i ((especially with the best gumbo I've had in Dallas), unbelievable tasty greens and corn bread. Jazz on Sunday was a great touch! Can't believe I haven't been here before.

   We were celebrating my partner's birthday and were met at the door with a very inviting demeanor. They knew from my reservation it was her birthday and served us a complimentary glass of wine before we even had a chance to peruse the menu. Our server was very attentive without hovering or being overbearing. The servers who were running the food out to us were also friendly and aware of the celebration, wishing my partner a happy birthday and chatting with us when they served. We were made to feel like friends/family instead of just customers. The food was delicious! We started with the shrimp and grits appetizer that was ample yet left you wanting more. The red fish was cooked to perfection and topped with a roasted red pepper sauce that had just enough heat to wake up the taste buds, and was served with crawfish rice that also had just a hint of heat. The whole fried chicken (served family style) was succulent and juicy on the inside and crispy-crunchy on the outside and not over-seasoned. This was served with fluffy biscuits, butter and an apple chutney that was just sweet enough to balance the saltiness of the chicken. This was not our first visit to Roots and will certainly NOT be our last.

   Enjoyed a wonderful birthday dinner - New Zealand jerk lamb chops entree and a side of fried yams with garlic butter. Loved chatting with Chef Tiffany Derry who took time out of her busy schedule to help make our birthday special. 😊

   Booked for my Mom’s Birthday dinner, and the service was as always outstanding. The cast iron cornbread and duck fat fried chicken was delicious, but the stand out dish was the spicy caesar, the fried chickpeas added a nice crunch. My compliments to the Chef as everything exceptional, we went home full, and happy.

    Seated next to the restrooms. Doors opening and closing with high traffic . Servers were inattentive and training. Unsanitary.
