Located in the historic Fulton Market district of Chicago’s West Loop neighborhood, Rose Mary is Chef/Owner Joe Flamm’s debut restaurant inspired by his Italian heritage and the bold, bright flavors of Croatian cuisine. The boisterous space—named for Flamm’s grandmothers, Mary and Mary Rose, and the herb rosemary, which grows natively along the Italian and Croatian coastlines—offers a seasonal menu of rustic yet refined dishes that encapsulate what Flamm has coined “Adriatic drinking food”.

    We had a fabulous server, who was so patient, as we were with friends we hadn’t seen in a while, so it took some time to get to the menu. She was lovely and didn’t rush us. Everything we ordered was outstanding. We ordered 8 items and each one was delicious. Will definitely be back !

    This was the second time we dined at Rose Mary and the second time we had to wait more than 30 minutes to be seated. And we were not alone. The small entryway was crowded with guests who could not be seated at their scheduled times. Because the bar was reserved for diners, folks could not wait there for their tables to be ready.

    Extremely disappointed with the service here. We missed our reservation window by two minutes due to unexpected traffic—despite calling twice ahead of time to explain the delay. When we arrived, we were told they couldn’t seat us, even though there were clearly open tables. It was my birthday, and they made no effort to accommodate or show any empathy. Completely inflexible and unwelcoming. I would give negative stars if I could.

    Came two years ago and loved it but this time almost every dish we ordered was over salted including zucchini fritters, shrimp scampi.

    Beautiful space, lots of natural light, beautiful lush green plants. Welcoming, excited staff who appear proud leading you through the experience of Rose Mary. We were celebrating my Mom's birthday and she couldn't have been more pleased!! We were greeted with celebratory Prosecco, indulged in a meal that was as delicious as it was filling. The food, experience, cocktails, it all fit the occasion so well. Food that you celebrate along with loved ones. The roasted beets stood out as a dish that had me continuously reaching for more, each bite discovering a new flavor and/or texture. It was perfect. The Branzino with it's perfectly smokey, charred bursts of olives and crisp crunchy skin was a measure of perfectly cooked fish and a refined restraint. Simple, but nuanced flavors executed perfectly. Mom went home smiling, happy, and feeling special. Big thanks to everybody at Rose Mary for making her birthday as special as she is. Thank you!!

    Rose Mary is always incredible and continues to be one of my favorite restaurants in the city. Though, last night was kind of strange our waiter gave the table next to us free complimentary drinks when they sat down, and an extra pasta “on the house”. It was strange to see such special “treatment” so obvious to us. They sat down fine etc - just seemed very strange and kind of uncomfortable for me really

    Nice dinner out. Small plate sharing menu. We loved the Stracciatella, rigatoni, and apple crostata dessert. The duck was good. The baby octopus was just ok for me. Great ambiance and service.

    Our server was Lillianna and she was so welcoming and observant. She sent out food at the perfect pace and anticipated our needs really well. We had a prior reservation cancelled by the restaurant and they made it up by sending us not one, not two, but three complimentary dishes that were even better than the foods we ordered. The support staff was very attentive as well always making sure to clear our plates at appropriate times, refilling our water glasses, and boxing our foods. Thanks Rose Mary for the wonderful experience!

    This was one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. I’ve spent much more at more critically recognized restaurants and not gotten nearly as good of an experience. A must have would be the sweet potato dish. Staff was incredible and friendly. Atmosphere was great as well. I will 100% be returning at least 2 more times to try the rest of the menu.
