The menu follows a Southern-fried meat-and-three concept, meaning diners order a meat, plus three sides. Those will include Ruthie’s mac and cheese, of course, but also white-soy-braised greens, stewed chickpeas and smoked cauliflower with a spicy soy glaze. “We’re going to be changing it a lot based on seasonality,” Hill says of the menu. “ Every vegetable has got to be fantastic because it has to stand on its own.” One thing that will help that: Hill is already growing all of the restaurant’s own herbs at his South Arlington community garden plot.

Always such a great meal and experience this was no exception. Went for brunch, I had steak and eggs my friend had the Cobb salad both were absolute perfection. The staff is attentive but not hovering. It was busy and with the craziness of Sunday Brunch we still had everything timely and made exactly as requested!! Love Ruthie’s!!

We had an outstanding experience. Food was amazing, waiter was extremely attentive. Worked with us on some allergies, and gave us a special treat for my husband’s birthday. We’ll definitely be back!

I’ve been here a few times, and I think I now stand firm on my thoughts about this place. Food is really tasty, but generally-speaking, the service is not good. I had looked online to see if I needed a reservation before heading over, but there was something either in or outside every 15 minutes, so I didn’t book anything prior to dinner sound 6:30 with my partner. Instead of being greeted with any kind of warm welcome, we were met with an annoyed “do you have a reservation?“ Of course my partner I replied no, but simultaneously couldn’t help but notice the bar is practically empty, they’re were at least three empty tables inside, and there were at least four or five tables outside with only a small party of two waiting ahead of us. The hostess then proceeded to tell us the wait was going to be about 30 minutes. My partner I proceeded to sit at the bar. We were not asked if we wanted to put our name on a list. Out of curiosity, I got my phone and went onto the OpenTable app to see if there are any reservations available. Lo and behold, nothing had changed since I had looked prior, and there were a plethora of tables available every 15 minutes. I ended up booking a table within 10 minutes of when we sat down at the bar. When we walked up to the hostess for our reservation, she said our table was not ready, and we were proceeded to wait another 15 minutes. In the meantime, the hostess proceeded to set a table of four without a reservation that arrived after us while we continued to wait. This definitely left a bad taste in our mouth, and made us feel like we were second class citizens. To boot, our waiter never offered us water, even after we ordered our food and wine. We had to ask another server or bar back to get our water, and we definitely felt rushed by our waiter, who didn’t seem like he could even give us the time of day. Thankfully, we really enjoyed our food, but the rude service is something that would give me pause next time I thought about returning..

Very popular and somewhat noisy. The popularity is well earned by producing excellent food with outstanding service. I’ve been before and will be back. It was friends first time. We were seated near patio door and constant opening and closing made for a chilly experience. Otherwise, maximum star ratings all around.

Food was ok. I have been several times over the years. The Brussels were very oily. Brisket was dry. They have good Mac n cheese and cocktails.
