Mandy Yin is one of the few Malaysian chef/owners in the UK, having founded Sambal Shiok in London in 2013. She is a Malaysian-born Chinese of Peranakan Nyonya heritage. "I take inspiration from everything I ate in my childhood growing up in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. Then I mix it up and put a new slant on it.

STARTERS Yee Sang Prosperity Toss Salad, smoked salmon, pomelo, golden crackers; Coconut prawns, salted egg mayo, curry leaves; Eight Treasures Soup, crab, black fungus, conpoy, black vinegar. SHARING MAINS Cod, shiitake mushrooms, ginger, soy; Golden fragrant chicken; Choi sum, crispy anchovies; Rice, chicken fat, garlic butter. DESSERT Pandan almond cake with condensed milk yoghurt.

The food was a bit cold. Starters were very tasty, but the rest was less good.

Food tasty but very expensive! Understand that prices have had to go up but for casual dining it was a lot. There was no affordable wine on the menu. Staff were all great and attentive!

Great food but I ordered a medium spiced Laksa which turned out to be very spicy. I was given some coconut milk to make it milder but I was never told that I would be charged extra for it. It was only £1 but it’s not about the money but principle - had I asked for mild laksa I would have not had to pay extra. This was disappointing

Love it. Have been back a few times now. The laksa broth is amazing. Staff are super friendly.

Lovely restaurant , very attentive service ,the food is freshly cooked and very tasty. The manager checks back that the food and service are good . I have been here several times and the standard is brilliant well done to all the staff.

Tasty food. Loved the fenugreek crackers, the crispy chicken, beef rendang and the Penang Assam laksa. Great service too.

Very friendly and attentive staff. The food was outstanding, served at the perfect temperature. All four of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals and dessert! Sambas Shikoku Laska Bar was highly recommended and we would recommended it as well.

Good value with 20% off early bird dinner Compared to other noodle soups at the menu pricing we weren’t sure it was good vfm However, if you love laksa then go! It was delicious and super spicy. You’ve been warned!
