Sammie’s is a little taste of old Italy in downtown Austin. It celebrates the great ‘red sauce’ institution—inspired by old school, legendary Italian-American restaurants. The menu offers classic dishes in a casual but sophisticated, retro-designed space that is both lively and comfortable, capturing the essence of a night out at your favorite neighborhood joint. The space consists of a central dining room overlooking Shoal Creek and 6th Street, polished wood bar, Mildred’s Room (a private dining/wine room), and wraparound patio dining area. Please note that patio seating is weather contingent.


The menu offers riffs on standards including Housemade Mozzarella Sticks, Clams Casino, and Caesar Salad a la Tommy; timeless pastas like Spaghetti with Meatballs, and Linguine Vongole; and Sammie’s Classics: big portions of iconic plates like Chicken and Eggplant Parmigiana, Veal Marsala, and Baked Manicotti.

    Excellent food and great service. The "classic dishes" are designed for 2 people and more than enough food. Meatball and calamari appetizers are out of this world/

    I had a wonderful dinner couldn’t ask for a better place to eat for my 2 year anniversary. The host and every server I talked to were extremely nice and polite love Sammie’s and would love to go again for a special occasion (as well as tell my friends to visit them!)

    Lizagna (haha) was our server and she was fantastic. Warm, attentive and efficient service. They were able to modify our reservation from 4 to 5 the day of which was much appreciated. The manager was proactive and checked on us and other tables and also worked the host stand. And the food was so good!!! It was exactly what we were craving! We will be back again soon.
