Sammie’s is a little taste of old Italy in downtown Austin. It celebrates the great ‘red sauce’ institution—inspired by old school, legendary Italian-American restaurants. The menu offers classic dishes in a casual but sophisticated, retro-designed space that is both lively and comfortable, capturing the essence of a night out at your favorite neighborhood joint. The space consists of a central dining room overlooking Shoal Creek and 6th Street, polished wood bar, Mildred’s Room (a private dining/wine room), and wraparound patio dining area. Please note that patio seating is weather contingent.


The menu offers riffs on standards including Housemade Mozzarella Sticks, Clams Casino, and Caesar Salad a la Tommy; timeless pastas like Spaghetti with Meatballs, and Linguine Vongole; and Sammie’s Classics: big portions of iconic plates like Chicken and Eggplant Parmigiana, Veal Marsala, and Baked Manicotti.

    Got to the reservation early and they still let us sit easily. Very romantic and clean. Dark red lighting and very pretty. Food was so wonderful and not too much where you walk away feeling gross. Service was fast and friendly. Will 100% be back!

    These folks really epitomize what customer service looks like in what otherwise in Austin is a ton of restaurants who just want to rush you in, and rush you out. Thank you for making my 50th so special and for understanding when several in my group were late due to weather and wrecks!! The server had great food and wine recs and Karim (? not sure of spelling) was adorable, kind and so on top of it all.

    Disappointed with the new menu items. Food was good but the lasagna was just ok and it just wasn’t as good as I remember.

    We celebrated my best friends birthday and had an absolutley beautiful evening. The staff took such great care of us and we were deeply appreciative. I always bring people to Sammie’s when they are in town, truly a gem in Austin 🩷
