Overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Sam's is open for indoor & outdoor dining, and takeout. Serving lunch through dinner seven days a week. Award-winning, fresh New England style seafood, in a casual setting overlooking the ocean. Live Maine lobster, fresh local crab (in season), fish and chips, fried calamari, delicious clam chowder, award-winning lobster rolls, farm fresh salads, Cioppino and more! Gluten-free, kids menu, and vegetarian available.

Reservations are for inside the restaurant - please note that we can't hold tables in the bar area or outside patio. Walk-ins are also welcome! Featured on NBC’s The Today Show, named “Best Outdoor Dining in the Bay Area” by SF Magazine, and “Best Seafood Restaurant in San Mateo County” by San Jose Magazine.

    The food was unremarkable. No fresh lobster in the lobster ceviche. Instead it was the packaged lobster for sandwiches, dry and rubbery. No chips, just one very small corn tortilla bowl. The fried calamari was cold and doughy. Definitely not light. Our waiter was attentive, but with poor food it’s hard to get past that. Won’t go again.

    Food was excellent as the service and ambiance. We loved the chowder and the scallops with french onions and orange peel.

    Beautiful iconic setting outside with a gorgeous sea view since we had our two dogs with us. Very dog friendly. Had a small bowl of their chowder and split a lobster roll with my husband with a glass of Albariño. Food was really good. Our server was very nice but clear they were slightly understaffed since it took a long time to be served, including getting a glass of water. That truly is my only complaint and reason for the 4 stars and could have been just a fluke, unless others reviewing have noticed the same thing regularly. Would definitely book here when in the area.

    Love to go to Sam’s for a relaxed night out. The food is consistently good. We watched the sun set as the waves crashed ashore. The setting helps you feel you’re far away- who needs a vacation with Sam’s around? We started with oysters-none fresher. Then we both had the fish & chips- large, tender pieces of white fish, battered and fried to perfection. The fries were seasoned perfectly. The only (small) criticism is that the Cole slaw has too much onion in it. We were too full for dessert but enjoyed a cafe mocha. All in all a great place to celebrate our anniversary.

    We enjoyed our meal very much. The grilled octopus was terrific as well as the fish we ordered: Halibut and sole. The upside down blood orange cake was very good too. Hope to be back again one day.

    It was our Anniversary so we were given a great window table and the view was wonderful. They wished us happy anniversary as we were seated. We had the lobster roll with fries and coleslaw and it was so delicious . Lobster was so plentiful it could of fed two people. At the end of meal they brought us a large piece of cake that was so delicious for our anniversary . What a wonderful surprise. The whole evening was made special by Sam’s chowder house.
