I should begin this with a preface; I've eaten at Sangrita at least 10 times and overall, have enjoyed each time. I think, on the whole, they do a decent job operationally...unless they're busy. Last night was the second instance we had made reservations on the night of a concert at the Fishers Event Center. The first time, in November, was packed and a line out the door. It was chaotic then and we figured they would've learned/trained for the type of chaos the new event venue brings. They didn't. Fast forward to last night and though we had a reservation, it took more than 15-minutes to get sat. Why so long? Because they STILL don't have a dedicated hostess at the front managing the seating, rather a person that comes and goes and will check someone in when they happen to be to stop by up front.
The sometimes hostess ended up seating us and some other tables in the overflow portion upstairs. No menus, no table settings, no silverware...nothing but a seat and a table. She said she was going to get menus/silverware/glasses/water/chips/salsa and would be back. Fast forward another 10-minutes and we still hadn't seen the hostess or a server. At some point, someone from another table went and procured menus from behind the upstairs bar on their own. At that point, we tapped out at Sangrita and decided to go to Verde across the bridge.
All that said, the food has always been solid and the service equally so...when it's not too busy that it drowns their staff. Operationally, they leave a lot to be desired when there's a big event and that's a new reality for them with Fishers Event Center booking more entertainment by the week. We'll go back, but I'll make sure there's no event booked before we do.
