Please note that you will be charged the full menu price on the day alongside any extras, drinks and a discretionary 15% service charge.     First things first, the setting is otherworldly, it is beautiful and the restaurant layout is designed (like other GR locations to maximise user experience). the fixe prix menu reads well and appears reasonable value- by London standards. We both had the smoked salmon starter which was perfectly served and the accompaniments were near perfect, so a very solid start. For mains we had the mutton and the Mushroom and Truffle Arancino and this is where it started to go wrong (for us). The mutton was cooked till falling apart and the Jus was perfect, but the accompanying veg was mushy and the barley left very firm which created a weird mouthfeel. The bacon lardons appeared virtually uncooked which again left a very unbalanced feeling. The Arancino smelt amazing, was plated wonderfully but was huge, the waiter messed up pouring the sauce so the plating was soon ruined. The dish itself was tasty, but heavy and dense and took some eating. We had two sides, the root veg with goats cheese, meh and the broccoli with cafe de Paris butter which was overcooked. Had coffee and petit fours (bang average for both) and then took 30 mins to get the bill. So in summary: Ambience amazing, food pretty average, service variable and value….. £180 for lunch for two and no alcohol pretty disappointing given the quality. So happy I went for the experience, but much better value and food to be had elsewhere

    The sole was half cooked with the texture of a rubber tire and surrounded by bits of cucumber. Th pastry for the tarte tatin and was dry and unappetising. I’ve enjoyed this place for 28 years but I won’t be back despite their good beef Wellington and Arnold Bennett soufflé and the brilliant sommelier
