Scott’s on the Richmond riverside is a seafood restaurant offering the finest oysters, fish and crustacea. Seasonal game, meat and vegetarian dishes also feature. Our fish are responsibly caught from sustainable sources. I took my mum to celebrate she just came out from hospital. She loves Jazz. When we arrived were taken upstairs and when we asked more than once about the jazz band we were told that we booked upstairs. And the band was downstairs. The truth is that I made a change last minute by phone, from 4 we became 2 and Hannah the lady who answered my call kindly explained that she didn’t have tables for 2 and we would get a place by the bar. I said I was taking my 75 years old mum so if we could get a table it would be great but I also said that my mum would adapt. Nobody warned me about the fact that we would not get a place were the jazz band would play. As upstairs was almost empty, I understand we had a communication issue. But I did book downstairs. And my mum was very disappointed.

Sunday night meant menu restrictions due to running out of items! What they did have though was tasty. Albeit my first and second choices were not available

Great food as always at Scott’s but the service was inattentive. We were introduced to “our waiter” at the start of the meal but this waiter seemed to lose interest throughout the service and eventually didn’t even bring us the bill (we had to ask someone else for that). We ordered the Valentine’s dessert even though it wasn’t on the menu. I asked the waiter who served the dish how someone who hadn’t been before was meant to know it was available. He explained that “technically it should have been explained to you by your waiter”. Needless to say, it hadn’t been. Unfortunately this experience matches our experiences on two previous occasions. I would have to agree with those who say that this is the poor cousin of the Mayfair restaurant. The food matches the main restaurant but the service and ambience don’t really live up.

Food and staff incredible. They did sit us right in between two couples really close to each other (even though there was loads of free tables). But the food was out of this world

Service and food offering cannot be compared to the Mayfair restaurant- this place is very ordinary and lacks the service !
