Walk-in's always welcome! Screen Door is a restaurant that presents itself as a love letter to the American South and the revival of regional cooking. Each day, the restaurant receives natural, local organic meats and produce from nearby vendors. The inclusion of regional Pacific Northwest ingredients into a menu of dishes developed in the south has created a unique flavor profile in Screen Door's menu. Many of Screen Doors dishes draw their inspiration from Louisiana and the Cajun cooking that's found there. These include our world-famous Fried Chicken, Lowcountry shrimp and grits, smoked andouille chicken gumbo and fried okra. Other items, like the house-smoked beef brisket and braised pork shoulder, come straight from the state of Texas. The rest of the South is well represented as well with a Carolina pulled pork sandwich, chicken and waffles, crispy fried oysters and a pimiento cheese & sausage biscuit sandwich with a fried egg and cheddar grits.

I went with a friend to Screen Door this morning for one of the best breakfasts I have had in the Portland area ever! The fried chicken and biscuits with mushroom gravy was absolutely perfect with a side of housemade jam. My friend had a mushroom, kale tart with fried leek topping and sauce and an amazing salad. Again, it was a mouthwatering masterpiece! We will be going back. I recommend getting a reservation several days before you plan on going as there is a very large line at this popular place. Service was also stellar and very friendly!

The most delicious breakfast. Unreal chicken and waffles. Massive portions so bring a friend and come hungry! Super accommodating as well! There was a wait but they encouraged you to explore the other coffee shops in the neighborhood and allowed you to bring it back in when your tables ready.

We made a reservation and showed up on time. We were told the table would be ready in 5-10 minutes. After 30 minutes we still had not been sat so we left. We saw multiple similar sized parties get sat before us. I know the food is good….just don’t make a reservation and expect them to honor it.

10/10 comfort food. We got the fried chicken dinner and the screen door plate. Was the perfect amount of food for 2 people. Would definitely come back here and we want to try their breakfast!

Food was good but the service was a miss. We had several issues with service and it made the experience less enjoyable. For the price point, the service should be more dialed in.
