Mardi Gras was a busy night but the staff were on top of their game! We were sat quickly, drinks were delicious, food amazing. What’s really fantastic was our server who knew everything about the menu and could make excellent suggestions for those who needed a nudge. She has worked there for years and has all the energy to help guests have a great experience. Five stars.

We had a great Mardi Gras meal! Had a little bit if everything. Service was a little slow but always super friendly. We watched others get seated after us and get their food and drinks before our food order was even taken. The food was delightful, though!

Have been trying to get to Screen Door for dinner for a long time and finally made it this past Saturday. It was VERY crowded when we arrived for our 7 pm reservation, but the guy working the front desk was great, communicated clearly and managed the crush very well. It is not a huge restaurant, and is obviously very popular, so we had about a 15-minute wait for two tables together to clear so they could accommodate our group of 5. The food was very "down home" but was extraordinary. Very well prepared and very flavorful. The waitress was friendly and professional and managed everything so that we felt well cared for despite the crowd. Highly recommended. I plan to return for brunch or lunch sometime soon.

As someone who takes their hush puppies seriously, I was eager to see if Screen Door could deliver that perfect balance of crispy exterior and fluffy interior. Flavor-wise, they got close—but the texture leaned too dense and dry, making them more of a chore than a treat. The collards missed the mark for me, lacking the deep, smoky richness that makes them sing. Instead, they leaned bitter, which might work for some, but I prefer my greens with a little more soul. Red beans and rice? Perfectly fine. Not bad, not great—just there, doing their job. Now, let’s talk about the chicken strips—easily the star of the show. Well-seasoned, beautifully crispy, and the kind of bite that makes you nod in quiet appreciation. The remoulade for the fried okra was another highlight, offering a well-balanced kick that kept me reaching for more. Service? Friendly, yes. Efficient, not so much. Expect to settle in for a bit—but hey, maybe that’s just part of the Southern experience they’re going for. Overall, there’s good food to be had here, but it’s not a flawless victory. A little more attention to execution, and they’d be in top-tier territory. I’d come back—but next time, I’ll manage my expectations accordingly.
