    Selden Standard can host a variety of events for 10 to 30 people. Facilities include a large semi-private table in the main dining room, an outdoor patio, and a private dining room with A/V gear.     Selden Standard’s fare features flavors born in local farms, captured at the peak of the season, prepared in their wood-fired oven, and served small plates-style in shareable portions. Complementing the menu are wines from small producers, distinctive brews, and cocktails to suit the seasons. Selden is rustic and casual, but with an ever-present eye for quality, creativity, and fun. Chef Andy Hollyday is a 2023 James Beard finalist and four-time semi-finalist. Selden Standard was named a semi-finalist for Outstanding Restaurant by the James Beard Foundation (2024), and has been named Restaurant of the Year by both the Detroit Free Press (2015) and Hour Detroit (2016).

    Service was exceptional. Server made excellent recommendations on drinks. You can’t pick a bad food item. Get the homemade bread and butter, you won’t regret it!

    We went here to celebrate a birthday. the food was great. Traditional type dishes with a twist. Our server was attentive and efficient without rushing us. Reservations are a must.

    Food so very delicious. Ordered a decent variety of vegetables (sides) and mains between four of us, and each was better than the last. So appealing with small touches and ingredients and flavors in each dish. Service pretty good during very busy dining period. Not much checking if drinks and/or wine was wanted after initial order. Food came out a bit haphazardly, presumably because of rush. A bit expensive, a lot worth it.

    Really outstanding food. You can put the food here up against any place in Detroit. Always unique and delicious. Our service last night was remarkably cold bordering on rude and also rather ignorant of the standard of service a restaurant of this caliber would typically strive for. Asking diners who are eating to stop eating and pass empty plates of other diners to the server so they don’t have to walk over. General arrogance if anybody has a menu question. When did this place become so snooty? It really felt like they couldn’t wait for us to leave, so we did before dessert. Confusing experience. Maybe the food is so good it doesn’t matter.

    The pastas were good. The salmon was just okay - not great. The pork was very fatty. For the price we expected more. Probably wont go back.
